'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

FWIW, Dews was named 2nd-team All-County last year as a defensive end.

He's apparently not a speedster, with a best time this past winter in the 55m dash of 7.13, but his 4.22 shuttle time in April at the NFTC camp suggests that he has very good agility. The 25.7" vertical jump he recorded there was not so impressive, though.

I'm seeing is 14 sacks....as a LB. I don't see the bad in that. If the coaches wanna take him, then welcome aboard!

I think we missed on Bates. Dews was obviously the backup plan. Unbelievable.

I'm cool with it as long as we're not telling Garrett, Wilson, Morgan etc. no thanks because of it.

Feel had for the kid getting hate on Twitter when he should be enjoying his moment. :(

Also even if he were to end up on scholarship this year I really don't see the big deal. I have no problem with a project or 2 in every class, it is when you start taking a bunch of projects that issues arise.

Let's just hope this project doesn't take the place of Garrett, Moo Moo, or any other LB we are heavily in on. Would assume many unhappy campers on this website if that were to be the case.

Ffs welcome the kid to volnation and stop being such idiots. If you have a twitter go tell him welcome and represent the t with class. Brian urlachers best offer was New Mexico. You have no idea how good this kid could be. And even if he isn't he is one recruit who just realized a dream. Any1 being rude to him has serious issues.

This is a HUGE HUGE reach. This kid has a terrible offer list. Heck, even his own crappy home state school Maryland hasn't offered.

I've been real excited about Butch's start in recruiting. However, we have lost momentum and are not bringing in the high 3-star or better (ideally better) players, especially linemen. The bottom line is that games are won and lost on the line of scrimmage. So far we are woefully lacking on the LOS. It's still early and I still have high hopes for this class, but we are really behind in linemen and the quality of our last few commits is starting to sink below where it needs to be if we are gonna turn this ship around.

If this kid actually committed it is only the 4th commit not rated 5.7 or higher on Rivals. One of those is a kicker, one has subpar grades, and the other was a former 4 star now JUCO recruit. As far as linemen go I agree. Hope we see some good news there soon. But saying that we've lost momentum is a bit disingenuous.
