'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

Well Sir you just lost your 20, all you good Vols fans that say you dont want him, obviously are not among the the Vols Coaching Staff so your opinion of him is irrelevant, and to answer some of your related questions, that 5.47 was ran as a freshman at a Nike camp, he ran 4.6 at the Vols one day camp on the 15th of June, and was clearly the best OLB at the camp according to your beloved Vols Coaches, so i say to you fine gentlemen lets this play out and then have your opinion when it is all said and done, thanks for your ear! (Speaking of Jerome Dews of course!)

So he showed out at camp. Makes sense.

Thanks MD.

If the kid is a walk on, I have no problem with it. If he is taking a scholarship, our staff has just had their 1st WTF moment at Tennessee. If you have some video of the kid running the 5.47(falling down apparently, and getting back up to finish the 40), I'd love to see it.

When OD is thinking it over before offering a kid, Tennessee should not be doing the same thing. JMO

As I recall many of you that were on VN a few years back were wondering why the staff took Sapp. Probable starter this next season and has been very valuable as a back up and special teams player since arrival. If JD is truly a scholly commit by the time signing day comes around he will be at least a 2 and maybe a 3*. Chill.

Very different time and situation. Completely invalid comparison.

When Dews was first offered he told me he would come in with the 2015 class but last night he said 2014. I don't think anyone knows right now.

Ahhh, it was obviously just a matter of time before a family member came to his defense on the board. Welcome, it's going to get much harder for you here before it's all said and done i think...

Nothing but jokes, apparently Ringling Brothers left town without you, cause you sound like a clown, while he's out working hard earning free money and yes free money, he will not be a walk on, you behind your screen name bashing children, you should be proud of yourself, but you have your right to your opinion my friend!

Just talked to Dews this morning and he said he talked to Butch Jones and Tommy Thigpen last night and gave them his commitment.

The thing with Dews, apparently, is the potential factor. He's about 6-4, 200-pounds and Tennessee coaches really liked his athleticism at camp for a linebacker. He told me only one person caught a pass on him all day at camp last week and that was Daniel Helm. He said he had three interceptions.

Still trying to check and make sure everything is good to go, because this morning I first heard it was a greyshirt so still checking on everything. But, just wanted to let you guys know where we were at this morning.

Pfort...still not sure if GS or not.

Wont be a problem at all brother, his play will either have him sink or swim, but trust me he will be up to the challenge!

Volnation is getting sloppy. This pales in comparison to the Great Josh Smith meltdown of last year.

I was fine with the Josh Smith pick up. Kid had some great video and he could run. Being local made taking a borderline SEC talent a reasonable decision to me. Hinshaw and Chaney tried to get him to Arky, and Cincy when they left. Other quality football schools wanted him.

This kid's a puppy. He's only 16. Should be a HS sophomore. So think about it...you have a 16 year old at 6'4 200lbs that runs a 4.6 forty and a 4.22 shuttle WITH 14 sacks. When he's 19 that's 230-240 lbs. and sub 4.5. Until Butch PROVES otherwise, I will go with his gut instinct.
