Gaulden will play outside at CB.....

It will be interesting to see where he winds up. I think most would imagine he's a NB or Safety eventually, but who knows where our staff will put him initially.

I'm just as interested to see what we end up doing with Mosley and Robertson. I have faith in our staff with some of the position changes we've seen (or haven't seen) from them.

Genetically gifted individuals naturally partition additional calories towards muscle and repair, whereas many of us partition more of it as fat. This is one thing that can not be changed, and explains why many if us can't get too lean or muscular. You can work many other things on your favor, but that nutrient partitioning is a coveted thing.

This becomes more apparent as you get leaner, as the body fights to keep fat. I was dropping like crazy, but now stuck at 12%

Buck Fitzgerald and VQ mods have been adamant Gaulden is a safety but might play some nickel. They say he won't play corner. Guess we'll find out this fall.

We'll see when gets here. Kid is made to be a big physical SEC CB. I think our safeties in this class make it easy for us to put him outside. CWM can make the transition easy on him.

If Gaulden were at cb , what would you do with Evan and Emmanuel for three years? They certainly don't translate to safety as well as Gaulden, who is a better tackler. I think there's a valid reason he's projected at safety, and our need for speed at corner could be appeased with the faster E's.

Evan can play safety easily with his athleticism. Kelly Jr. and McDowell are nice safeties. How many good CBs are on our roster again? Sutton and who else? Some of these kids won't turn out(reality). CB is a desperate position as well as safety. Gaulden isn't a big kid like some on this board think. He's a nice sized CB(height wise) though. His closing speed would do wonders at CB. I'd love to develop him into a Nate Clements type of CB. Big hitting player with ball skills. Gaulden also can run very well. You don't have to run 4.3 to play CB.

Evan can't tackle as well as Gaulden so I see it as a better fit at corner where he is faster. If Gaulden were to play corner there's no way either could supplant McDowell or tk2 at a safety spot. Gaulden could challenge either one for the safety spot. We have one good safety and one good corner so both the safety and the cb spot are in the same predicament depth wise. That's why Gaulden would be a much better fit at safety, it would give us Payne, Evan, and Emmanuel to develop at cb (3 new players) whilst having 3 Gaulden McDowell and tk2 at safety. It spreads our depth and better fits his skill set. He could play corner yes but I'd like to see a hitter at safety who can give us some ints and take some of the pressure off brandolph

You guys talk like we have CBs on this team..... Randolph will man one safety spot and Sutton at the other CB. We need 2 other capable CBs and soon. Gaulden is tailor made for CB in this league. He's a big CB and an average sized safety with weight on him. He'll be a big hitting CB but I don't know if he'll be punishing big backs with ease in the SEC. McDowell and Kelly Jr. are two big hitters that I'm confident in at safety. I'm very confident in Gaulden's ability to play CB at a high level. He probably can play safety at a high level but we've got the best safety duo in the country coming in. Why not get your best players on the field at once????

Is there any film of Gaulden at CB at all?

All of this. I just don't understand why some don't see Gaulden being a highly talented CB. Love his size at CB. We are in greater need at CB right now. Get your best players on the field ASAP imo.

McDowell is listed at 6'3" 200 lbs on Rivals. I wonder what kind of weight gain he will grow through. Will be interesting to see if he grows into a LB. He already hits like one.

I would agree with you if we didn't have Germany, Bryant, Bates, Neiko, Weatherd, and Berry already in the fold. It'll be tough beating out all of them. Depth is such a nice thing.
