They are as good as the people telling them the information. I can't get mad at a mole that provides info. These debates are stupid and degrading for skeeter and OCI. I like the info, so I want them to stay. If you don't like it, ignore them.

Amen. It's stupid. And it makes it even more stupid because it just rehashes the same things/calls/events/"misses" over and over. And we have to have the same discussion every couple months.

And people get really, adamantly upset for some reason. Like its their mission to disprove or prove someone. Just read it and let people believe it or doubt it at their own risk. My goodness

This.

The same people that don't understand this very basic concept are also the ones who overreact when a big time recruit doesn't choose UT.

I see it all the time on here...if a highly rated kid has UT in his top group but in the end he chooses another school, these posters will say things like, "He was never coming here!", "I don't know why you guys get your hopes up, it was never happening!", "It was a pipedream!".

Meanwhile, the recruit had UT listed in his top group for months, made multiple visits, VQ/Scout/247 mods wrote article after article on their interest level in UT, gave quotes as to how much he liked the staff, school, fans, etc...but in the end he just chose somewhere else. That doesn't mean it wasn't a possibility that he would choose UT. It wasn't a pipe dream. You can't win them all, it's recruiting. JMO

Ahhh... the Swan brings it again, Good post. Spot on. :good!:

People that predict or guess where a recruit is going are much like those so-called stock market experts, the really good ones are correct much of the time but also miss some. They just take the available information and use it on their predictions. Some posters on VN will argue about if it's day or night when the sun is shining on their heads and they believe deep down in their little hearts that they're always right. The good posters I've noticed will give us information that they believe is wanted by the readers and sometimes their opinion on what it means. That's it. JMO again.

I've never understood the insider police who feel the need ridicule anyone who claims to have information. Just let people take things as they will and form their own opinions.

Good post. If some posters would be honest about their personal desire for e-cred they would admit that their real desire is to be the one that called it - either on the source poster being correct or actually on the player's choice of schools.

Take the ego out of it and look at all of the information with an open mind. I am thankful for what 74, Skeeter, you and others bring. When you add it all up on each player you get a pretty good picture of what can happen as well as the odds of it happening. So what if it's wrong? It's just recruiting football players and there are hundreds of them every year to choose from.

skeeter knows what the coaches know/feel about a recruit so if the coaches think they have him locked up, like wright and bell, then of course skeets info will be off. how hard is it to understand that? its been stated countless times. hell even a national recruiting pundit sent out a big tweet announcing bell was a vol that day. u gotta remember how the fluidity of an 18 year olds mind and how hard it is for anyone, even their own parents to pinpoint what theyre gonna do is always in play

People on the internet love to be right and especially enjoy telling others when they are wrong. Strange community on the interweb. The explosion of forums has been great for information, but it has negatives, too. I have a hard time holding back against negative nancies but realize that no one should ever increase your blood pressure on the internet.

I can't wait for Coach Z, I meant Vol74, to pop in here and confirm Skeet's news some time between now and Monday.

It's pretty much this simple. Believe or don't believe, but don't get mad at the messanger. I'd rather have some guys around with some inside information (assuming it's legit and not attention seeking) than having mind numbing hand wringing based on what Hubbs, P Fort, or Callahan puts out.

It seems as though a lot of people on here claim to have "insider" info, but without them revealing their sources, we don't know if their information is legitimate or not. I think this is where the issue lies with Volnation. I'm not going to act like an expert and I have no insider info, but I'm also not going to accept everything someone says as the truth unless it comes from the coaching staff. Even PFort and Hubbs have been wrong in the past and they speak directly to the kids. Everyone should just read things and take the info with a grain of salt before they boom. (Also, I haven't been around long enough to know who has legitimate info; Vol_Insider on Volquest has no legitimate info)

Orange Venom, Vol 74, skeeter (about 50/50), and matts

It's going to be hard, but I'm holding off until Monday. Then I'm booming like gangbusters.

At the risk of derrelling this thread further, what exactly is a gangbuster? Have obviously heard the term forever but don't really know what it is.

Tee did come home dingleberry. He was here the next day for an interview. He just turned us down. Skeet never said Tee was gona coach here just that he was coming home . Which he did. He was right again. Good example.

Only at VolNation do we criticize people for bringing info. Whether or not you believe the "insiders" is up to you, but this board wouldn't be what it is without people bringing the info they have.
