I find it amusing that no credible source has confirmed his release and yet you guys are wishing him well. We have some gullible posters on the VN.

Well it's not confirmed BUT some posters did say both were exploring their options before Hubbs came out and backed that information up. A lot that has came out of pretty reliable sources point to Scott being on the way out.

I thought with a release you had to sit a year. Without to an SEC school it was two.

I think this is correct. If you sign an LOI with one SEC school, you cannot transfer to another unless you sit out two years. Of course, he could go JUCO and not sit out at all.

NCAA can grant an immediate release IE the Penn State deal but generally that's a very rare situation. I think you either have to go to a lower level division of football or the juco route if you're not released and want to play immediately. I think even if you do get a release that the NCAA generally makes you sit a year unless you get some kind of hardship release to play immediately. Generally that is when a kid has sick family etc and even then it can be a pain to get if a kid wants to still play at a major school.

Yes. I believe the sit out two years is an SEC rule.

if he wants to go bad enough he'll drop to Juco and c9ke back. I had never heard of the 2 year deal. i always thought it was 1.

Because they know where Hendrix would try to go

Yep, if they grant Hendrix a release we will see him at Mizzou very soon, if Butch refuses, maybe he will go outside the SEC. Makes perfect sense to me. Maybe Scott isn't viewed as much of a threat at NC State plus Butch has to admit he has done his best to over recruit Scott at his position. He is bringing in guys to play immediately next year at RB.

I think the simple answer is we want to keep Hendrix and don't want to keep Scott at this point. Hendrix will be a good player for us if we can keep him. They need to get him away from Scott ASAP.

I do not know anything specifically about the intentions of the coaches. That could play some part of it. But, a big part of it also has to do with the reason that each player is wanting to leave. Hendrix's (despite what posters on here assume) reasons for wanting to leave has very little to do with football. Its not about playing time or not liking how he gets coached. It has to do with things outside of just football. I assume the coaches hope that as he gets older and gets more comfortable in his new environment his views will change.

They want to keep both but it's easier to let Scott walk than Hendrix thanks to Kamara, RDA, and probably Love coming in. Also in terms of release, I doubt it's a case of Scott getting a no limitations release. It just so happens Scott wants to go to a school we don't play. He wouldn't be released to a s. Carolina or SEC school. Hendrix would try to go to a team we play every year and that ain't happening

Paulk may be on the way back as well. Sounds like Scott is a little bit of a diva and is becoming an energy vampire. Don't need anyone infecting the locker room. I just hope they don't do circle drills where ever he ends up.

Scott is a drain, not a fountain. CBJ

I find it ironic that the Jon Gordon book that's from talks constantly about only being positive and how people respond best to positive statements and coaching, while Butch is known for being brutally negative as a motivation tool. Not advocating one or the other, so no one start that argument, just pointing out the irony.

A lot of the time, he'll combat those statements with something positive.

I've seen him mad at coaches and refs. I've heard him use negatives in jest at practice, but most of the team really likes and respects him. Where do you get that he is "brutally negative"?

Some of the lines in practice vids earlier in spring were rough. I didn't hear him say one positive thing in any of the practice videos.

Never said players don't like or respect him.

The videos show a small portion of the practice during a predetermined period. Judging Butch's temperament off of them is the definition of basing an opinion off too little information. The large majority of what he hear from the team is that they love playing for the whole staff and it feels like a big family.
