If you're attempting to make the argument that top caliber RBs would line up to sign with a school providing 2-3 carries a game, I think you missed. Maybe it was an emergency, maybe it was a "serviceable" situation. 2-3 carries a game will NOT keep a top caliber RB around long.

You may note UGA is having serious trouble this class signing any RBs. They have a Juco kid who was about to flip. Rocky Reid MIGHT be interested. RB depth and what you do with that depth is in play no matter what fans want to think.

Nope lol, not even close...simply making the argument that it is possible for more than 2 RBs to get carries. And in the SEC you need at least 4 quality SEC backs on your roster...which we don't have. If you think we do have that, you are crazier than I thought.

Also, I've never said anything about a team needing 5-6 4*+ RBs the way you like to over exaggerate to make your point. I really don't think anyone has ever said we need 5-6 top 50 backs on the team...much less 3-4 in one class of that caliber. It just isn't gonna happen.

If we're short handed at a position we might have to take extra a year to get caught up, then spread them out with red shirts.

While on the subject - ever notice that UGA doesn't trot the same style RB out there each time they make a change? Wonder why? lol.

You need five. With different styles. With all being able to run well out of your system. With various ages. With potential to be SEC quality by their third year. An emergency is only one of several factors. Think baseball with the relievers being able to enter the game multiple times. Doesn't make the starters less valuable. Enhances the starter's abilities as they get more rest and the differing styles must be accounted for by the opposing D.

But he already knew that.

No, you take 2, then three or four years later you take 2 more! JMO IMO

Also, UGA is a terrible example for him to use or refer to. They take 2 or 3 good backs every year and still had a depth problem. Stuff happens, and on our end, we had no healthy backs by the end of the year. Plus, once we catch up, we will only need to take one or two backs a year.

I think scott is trying to transfer b/c the staff may be trying to red shirt him next year. We'll have Hurd, and Kamara as the main backs plus that guy from cinci that is a RB who they will try to get into space.

Yep, I'm on here 4 or 5 times a day. Trying to find real info, not the junk LV is spewing . It's tiresome fo sho

n.W.o. 4 life. I loved Savage way before his WCW days. Catcher in the Stl Cardinals Org at one time. He was shorter than anticipated when I met him, but he was a BOSS :worship:

So maybe the focus should be on recruiting more/better OL guys than stockpiling RBs who won't see carries anyways?

JMO

If it were that simple, you're just not going to fix an Oline situation overnight. Sure there are some freaks that start as true freshmen but those are a rarity. Generally most decent Olinemen have a few years in the program and have been developed more. We have a void of talent and experience right now on Oline; you cannot fix that by taking a crap ton of Oline, you cannot address it by taking a bunch of lousy JUCO players.

That would make sense on both counts. At NC state he would be their elite back too. That matters a lot to some guys. I knew with us signing so many and presumably heavy selling earlier playing time than any school that we'd end up with some bruised egos. That is the transition that is toughest because after next year we won't be emphasizing that nearly as much because the roster will be full of studs and any recruit will see that. The whole come here and shine like a diamond your freshman year deal can be a 2 edged sword because you have Barnett/Hurd that have and Hendrix/Scott that didn't.

Derrell Scott is not a numbers issue. I think it's more of an unhappy issue. He looks to be a transfer issue. Talk of RB recruiting in a RB thread will tend to happen at times.

Is going to transfer. And will get a release as well.

Per Hubbs on 104.5

Anything new on Scott and Hendrix? They continue not to practice. Final exams are currently going on. Tn is not on the practice field till this coming Sunday due to final exams. They are in school and completing their exams. We will see where they elect to go from there whether they return to the practice field or elect not to practice and not go to the bowl game. Very difficult from a eligibility stand point to transfer your FR year midterm because you have not honored your residency. That could affect your clock. Most are advise to not transfer till you have completed your two semesters.

So it seems like a matter of whether they go through bowl practice and spring ball or not. I'm hoping Hendrix is at least willing to play it out and take stock after spring.

Cool that Butch is granting him a release. I know many questioned Dooley for not. I wonder if it had some conference restrictions?
