Redshirt Hurd? Was that a serious question? And he would be the 3rd RB in his first season and the 2nd RB on the depth chart in his 2nd season. That's a great opportunity. He's also much different than any of our other RBs so I think they would have special packages for him. And Lane gets hurt every year. I'd say there are plenty of snaps there for him.
He is better than lane right now. Would bring a totally lacking dynamic to our offense.
I would rather Lane play for us than against us because he can get tough yards between the tackles, which ordinarily means first downs when we have a competent offense. Good, not great. Hurd can be great. Scott remains to be seen, but appears capable of performing at a very high level.
Rivals250 all-purpose back Derrell Scott is one of the top uncommitted players at the Shrine Bowl. Scott has an official top five of Florida State, N.C. State, Ohio State, South Carolina and Tennessee, but the top contenders are the Gamecocks and Volunteers. Tennessee already had an in-home visit, and South Carolina will visit Scott's home in January. N.C. State is very much in the mix as well, but the Wolfpack looks to be trailing Tennessee and South Carolina. Scott, who does not have any other official visits planned, is hoping to commit some time in mid- to late-January.
"Really the chance for me to go in there and play early," stands out, Scott says. "I just like the things that (Tennessee head) coach (Butch) Jones is doing. [He tells me] I can get on the field early and that they don't have a guy like me there."
"They've probably been recruiting me longer than anybody else has so that sticks out," Scott said of the Gamecocks. "They've been there for me for a long time. I just like South Carolina, it's hard to explain."
"I'm their guy still and they I've been their guy since Day 1, ever since they started recruiting me my freshman year, Scott said. "They don't want anybody else but me, they don't want to take anybody else."
"They're all pretty much even," he said of South Carolina, Tennessee and N.C. State.
