He said now that his season is over, he is going to focus more on his decision.

These quotes make me think he will end up at South Carolina. Sounds a lot like Josh Malone quotes before he came to TN. In the end the longterm relationships generally win out in recruiting.

I think Scott has the potential to be what Oku should've been.

I am worried he has the potential to be Oku.

Scott ran a 4.72 40 at the UA combine in January. APB's that don't have breakaway speed scare the **** out of me.

Not that he isn't going to be good, but that is certainly something I pay attention to.

He only gets carries as a Fr at one place...TN
If he is looking to play early we are the only option.
If he is cool with sitting out a year or so he will go to SC.

SC returns:
Davis - Jr (Probably the best RB in the SEC this year)
Carson - Jr
Wilds - Jr (former starting RB)
Salley - RsSo
Smith - RsFr
Williams - RsFr

TN returns:
Lane - Sr
Pickett - Jr (transfer from Maryland who sat out this year)
Hill - So (if he is still around...hasn't done a thing in 2yrs)
Hurd - Fr (coming off shoulder surgery)
Paulk - Fr (potential rs or gs due to injury)

Agree. Doesn't sound great. This is potentially especially bad since everyone has Hurd moving to literally every other position on the field other than DT and place kicker.

We need an RB to go along with our one "true" rb signee (Paulk) in this class who's coming off an ACL surgery and who probably won't be ready to play in the fall.

I get the feeling that Scott is going to make the best decision for himself, and while SC has been on him the longest and built a good relationship, he knows that UT gives him the best option to play early and often. And it sounds like he really likes Butch and what UT is building. Vol, IMO.

He is a 4.45-4.5 guy legit lol. If its business decision for his future he picks vols.

Hurd is all rb. Kid is a freaking eddie george.

"South Carolina has been at the top of my list for a while," the four-star recruit, who is ranked as the nation's No. 190 senior and No. 8 all-purpose running back, said. "Tennessee moved up a little bit in the past few months or so after I took my official up there. NC State pretty much moved up a little bit too with the new coaching staff. "It's pretty much even with those three schools."

"It may be before the new year, or afterwards in January or something," he said. "But I will [announce a decision date] sometime soon."

Scott said the deciding factor will be his comfort level at his new home. He knows what each program has to offer after officially visiting Tennessee in early October and South Carolina on the weekend of Nov. 15.

"Really, pretty much [it comes down to finding] a place that's comfortable," he said. "You don't play football every month out of the year, so you have to find a place where you'll enjoy living during the other parts of the year."

USCe appears to be in the drivers seat IMO.

My hope is we keep this strung out until NSD. USCe might get nervous and offer another RB and lose him that way.

Its been stated that its pretty much scott or Nobody for us so stringing this out helps us IMO. The longer the better

Adam Friedman video interview on Rivals with Scott. Didn't give much away, doesn't have any visits planned. Says he'll announce after his All Star games in January. Friedman wasn't much of an interviewer, didn't really get much out of Scott and looked nervous asking the questions haha.

Hmm. Reminds me more of Coker. Not quite as fast but a little shifter.

You may be right, but I always thought of Coker as a home run threat type of RB and not a shifty inside runner.

Regardless that is exactly the same level we must get back to - Coker and Hardesty were both a part of the 2005 recruiting class.

Pretty sure the last time we had 2 big-time backs in one recruiting class.

USCE IMO. No inside info just a guy feeling from quotes

Yeah I've been feeling like we were behind USCe for a while now. I think they're selling him hard on being the only back that they want in this class. But the fact that he is not committing until January is very good for us IMO. Give this staff that kind of time to focus on him and only a small handful of other recruits and I think we could end up with the edge in his recruitment.

I think South Carolina. Granted, early PT is a given at Tennessee, much more so than SC, but they've been the leaders the entire time and more importantly I believe his mother wants him there. I think in the end that is where he ends up. The Vols do need another RB in this class rather desperately, but I wouldn't waste it on a marginal guy. You dont land Scott then just wait until next year and bring in a couple more guys there.

Completely agree with you aj. We've got to get back to that point and I have little doubt that we will in the near future.

i keep seeing people say its Scott or bust, but arent we going after Powell as a 3rd back still? hes making his announcement soon isnt he?

I agree. I will confess I'll be mildly disappointed if we come to the end of another cycle wanting to add an elite RB, and miss out.

But Hurd will be exceptional and we have Paulk in reserve for 2015. Lane is quality as well.

If Lane and Hurd go down in 2014, though, the drop off is tremendous...

Can't wait for more quality depth at this position.

Yes but he's all Miami from the sound of it. The guys on VQ certainly seemed to insinuate after his OV that he wasnt a realistic option.

This is why we should have continued to recruit Truitt instead of taking Powell and cutting off Truitt.

Yep I've been saying we take Scott or flip another elite back from someone else or we don't take another in this class (although it wasn't the most popular opinion at first but it seems that most have warmed up to it) and let Berry or one of our other current commits play RB if needed this year. If we can't get another elite back then I don't want another one in this class. Because we would be turning away an elite player at another position by taking them. I don't want to take a guy like Kinlaw and it result in us not having room for guys like Jackson, Lamin (very long shot I know), etc.

Agreed. They've had enough RB's recently that are on the current roster who arent going to contribute. It makes no sense to bring in another one in that mold. Bring in a legit talent at another position with that scholly and worry about RB in next year's class.
