You mean he'll wait to commit until he's ready to? So as not to lead a school on? So as not to steal another roster spot from someone? So as not to lie to a coaching staff? What a novel idea.

My kinda guy! Plus Griddie likes him and Griddie knows Carolina football.

Nice, and is there any doubt Ferguson is the QB of the future?

Tons of doubt in the football forum. Plenty of guys believe it's definitely Worley next year. One even says it's Worley or Peterman. Many incredulous that anyone suggest Riley since he didn't play as a Frosh.

Worley could very well be the QB in 2014. That does not mean Ferguson can't be the QB of the future. 2015 is the future. I don't see Scott picking UT over usce. If he did he would have 3-5 years to play so he would likely play more with the younger QBs than Worley anyway.

I would be very happy to have Mr. Scott running in tandem with Jalen. It will probably be a couple of years before Treyvon can contribute at a high level due to the ACL.

Who would you compare Scott to?

I'm not sure I have a great comp off the top of my head but he's a guy with speed, toughness and great hands. Think Kenjon Barner, the Oregon running back who is now on Carolina.

As you may or may not know I'm spending the week in lovely Spartanburg, S.C. for the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. Four-star running back Derrell Scott, one of the Vols biggest remaining targets, was supposed to compete in the game but broke his hand in the state championship game and left on Monday. Prior to his departure we did*catch up with him for this video interview.*

With Scott gone but several well-connected people still around I went looking for info and here's what I found out:

1. Scott doesn't like to talk: He's a pretty shy kid and not a guy who really relishes the spotlight. He shies away from interviews and from what coaches tell me he's not great at making regular contact with the schools recruiting him, making things even dicier during the dead period.

2. It seems to be a South Carolina-Tennessee battle. N.C. State still thinks its in a good position to land Scott but from what I was told today it's going to come down to the Vols and the Gamecocks.

3. Tennessee currently has the edge. The person I talked to told me that if he had to make a guess today that it would "be orange." Tennessee is selling Scott on a "Thunder and Lightning" type role with fellow 2014 RB commit Jalen Hurd and it appears to be something he's interested in. Combine that with the fact that Scott is familiar with Riley Ferguson (the QB that the Vols staff is selling as the future starter) and current wide receiver Marquez North, only helps Tennessee's position.

4. South Carolina is pulling out all the stops. Scott's former teammate and current Gamecock do-everything offensive weapon Pharaoh Cooper has started helping the Gamecocks coaches in their recruiting efforts over the past week. Cooper had remained out of the picture while both players focused on their seasons, but with crunch time coming up Cooper is selling Scott on the chance for the two to play together again (they won two state championships together while playing on the same offense at Havelock High), especially considering the state of South Carolina's RB depth chart and the fact that Mike Davis is likely to leaver following next season.

5. FSU is lurking. If the Noles don't add Dalvin Cook, expect the to put the full-court press on Scott. Vols fans should be rooting for FSU to land Cook, No. 1 to get him out of the SEC and No. 2 to help their case for early playing time.

6. There's still a lot of time before signing day. Tennessee sort of finds itself in an opposite position than it did with Josh Malone. South Carolina is the easy choice here while Tennessee can offer different and appealing options. The bottom line is this will be a tough one to follow, but I was assured Scott will decide prior to Signing Day, so the school that does miss out will have a chance to explore secondary RivalsWoody

Go look at his td highlights earlier in this thread i posted from the state title games. Kid has legit 4.45 speed and moves. And he is as tough as they come. Deidicated to football and a winner. Very shy but on the field gets after it on every play.

There is no doubt ferguson is our qb. Its hilarious, everyone over here knows just how good this kid is and how fortunate we were to keep him. Apparently everywhere else thats not the case, at least yet.

Fergy is the only sexy way to sell recruits we have right now. There is no scary perception about him to plant doubt in recruits minds.

It's all about selling recruits on a belief in our future and has virtually nothing to do with the plans the staff has at QB IMO

I have thought from the very beginning that he was our QB of the future. He has a good arm but throws the ball with excellent touch. He also reads defenses very well, it seems like he always throws to the right guy. And he is also pretty athletic, I think he's actually a little faster than Dobbs. Ferg is forreal and everyone will find out soon enough.

I think he will be the QB of the future as well but all this talk to recruits is just part of the game IMO. Other schools can sell recruits on doubting the other 3 and building Fergy up eliminates that worry for recruits.

IMO the staff really has no idea who is stating game 1 next fall

It'll be Worley but it will be Ferguson once it matters.

The legend of Fergy is unrivaled right now. Raw practice footage of Fergmeister reportedly sold the Nation's second best receiver.

Doeshe have the "it" factor. The supreme want to win? That's all i care about. The good teams have QB's with "it."
