'14 NC RB Derrell Scott (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Scott, as we've said for several weeks now, has Tennessee and South Carolina at the top and depending on who you talk to they would tell you Tennessee or South Carolina has the edge. What is certainly worth keeping in the back of your mind is that South Carolina has been thought of as the team to beat for Scott for a very long time and while Tennessee and Robert Gillespie have done a great job with Scott we still think this one will be hard for Tennessee to pull off.

But, the Vols are very much in this one and Scott will decide before signing day it seems and if Tennessee continues to carry this momentum for another month it all bets are off.

There is no way Spurrier is at South Carolina for four more years. I think he is almost 72 already. You will probably have a coaching change in your time there if you sign with them this year.

I agree, and would think this is reality probably being respectfully thrown out there my many coaches recruiting against USCjr.

In a recruiting battle or head to head, of course I am pulling for nothing but good for the Vols always. At the end of the day, CFB will not be the same without the ball coach on the sideline. I actually enjoy his sound bites, pressers and antics on the sideline. Oh yea, he is a pretty darn good coach also.

Stable of WRs? If by stable you mean 4 once Pearson and Malone get on campus then I'm with you.

Croom was playing better till he got hurt, Johnson showed he could get open and catch the ball when he was healthy, Jenkins is supposed to be quick and one of the better route runners, if Smith can learn to catch he will be a force. Dude is always open but some reason cant hold onto it. Plus Vic coming in and who knows where Creamer ends up. The WR potential is off the charts.

Yeh people dont realize how mobile riley is. He certainly can run, sramble and extend plays. But i could care less about that. We need to be able to throw the football. We have a stable of wr. Riley has a strong arm, and just as important, accuracy. That will open up our offense and running lanes for hurd, ect

+1000..I have seen some post that he isnt mobile and that isnt true. Even Dobbs was labeled a Pro Style QB. But Riley is every bit as mobile as Dobbs and who knows probably even more. Can only go off Recruiting evals, camp evals and practice reports. But everyone has him with a strong harm, being mobile and creating plays with his feet.

Nobody will know for sure where this kid's goin until he commits. After seeing the class we are pulling this year, I sure as heck won't count out Butch.

Agree on all of this. Especially with smith though. Smith has performance issues on the field.

Don't forget Bowles and Jenkins. Drae was hurt and I think he will come around. They seem to be pretty high on Jenkins ability.

end result was what I was getting at and I would really doubt it was only 3 weeks I think they had been on lammy for quite a while.

Potential yes....

Croom, as a starting WR averaged 1.5 catches and 22 yds/Gm, 3 tds

Johnson showed some flashes... 10 gms, 13 catches, 189 yds, no yds

Jenkins- unproven RS freshman

Vic- unproven freshman

Smith- more drops than catches... can't play on Saturdays IMO

Creamer- unproven freshman

My point is, when I hear or read the phrase "a stable of WRs", I think of a WR corps of several talented, proven, productive players.... The above list is decently talented, but misses the mark by a ton on the proven and productive side.

That's why I implied that the only WRs that are up to snuff, AT THIS POINT, IMO, will be North, Pearson, Pig and Malone, who himself is an unproven freshman.

Wish we didn't have to forget Bowles but it seems we have no choice.... it appears the coaches have forgotten Bowles

Back off he's ours

May be the reason he's always open

Whether they are "up to snuff" as starting SEC WRs, I have a very hard time thinking that anybody could argue that Croom, Johnson, Jenkins, Bowles, and Vic would not be an outstanding 5-9 (in no order). Croom does not have to be (at present) an all-SEC starting WR in order to help contribute to a stable of talented WRs.
