January 27th I believe. He's visiting Florida, and then has in home visits with Our coaches, spurrier, and possibly Muschamp before he decides.

I think we lead by a large margin

I've seen different reports that have Scott's 40 time anywhere from 4.41 to 4.45.
Coker was timed from 4.37 to 4.42 during his high school days.

Under Armour 2013 Combine Results

Hand Start 40 Motion Start 40 Best 40 Best L cone

Elliott Berry 4.55 4.72 4.55 7.56
Evan Berry 4.56 4.64 4.56 7.33
Derrell Scott 4.72 4.79 4.72 7.24

Braxton Berrios 4.67 4.74 4.67 6.89
Marlon Humphrey 4.48 4.69 4.48 6.76
Bo Scarbrough 4.59 4.71 4.59 6.78

I believe these 40 times are fairly accurate except I'm guess Scott is closer to a 4.6 then 4.72. There were only a few sub 4.5 40 times at this camp which is about what you would expect. The best actual recorded 40 time I can find anywhere on Scott in 2013 has been 4.59. I think in 2011 he may have ran a 4.45 at a camp but that was at 160 lbs. Scott was 5'10 179 when this 40 was timed.

This is not to knock Scott at all there's alot that goes in to being a great back. He's plenty fast enough with his elusiveness and seems to run surprisingly well between the tackles.

I know a lot of the 40 times we hear are inaccurate, but Evan Berry has to be faster than 4.56. He has very good track times.

Surely Malone's vertical is wrong?

I hope this isn't one of those where there are three hats on the table, and he picks up the UT hat says no then tosses it aside and chooses another school!

Tennessee's other coaches were very busy Thursday as well as Robert Gillespie was in North Carolina to see Derrell Scott.

Right now, Tennessee has the momentum with Scott heading down the stretch but it won't be over until the in-home visits. Tennessee will receive one before South Carolina, at least that's the plan right now.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds as some believe Scott's family would like him to stay closer to home, but Tennessee's depth chart is much more inciting and Gillespie has done a very good job of building that relationship.

All that to say while Tennessee is in good shape right now, it doesn't looked to be finished.

I have a bad feeling about the comment of his family wanting him to stay closer to home. With one recruit, Jackson, we want his family to win out, and with Scott we would like for his family not to win out.

Yes, but at least we have the depth chart in our favor in the situation where we are further from home.

And it is a difference of a 90 minute drive and a 3 Hour drive.

Where the other one is a 7 hour drive to a 12-14 hour drive.

The only parts that matter in that VQ update are "Tennessee has the momentum with Scott" and "Tennessee is in good shape right now". That's usually a VERY good indicator coming from VQ staff and that's what they've been saying for 1-2 months now. I think UT leads by a wide margin.

Why? 31 inches is not a bad vertical at all for a guy coming out of HS. Check out the combine results for WRs last year (remember they've got 3 years on Malone. 2013 NFL Combine Results: Wide Receivers
He's not far behind at all. And don't be worried, I've seen him go up and win a lot of jump balls, he can hop.

I just meant in comparison to others on the list. I have a hard time believing JM's vertical is accurate in this case. This has been discussed at length in another thread.

So Scott's parents and Adoree's parents want them closer to home. Which parents do we want most to win out most? I say Adoree as he is a day 1 starter at cb opposite Sutton IMO.

.

90 minute drive to 3 hour? It's 7+ from Havelock to Knoxville and 4:30 from Havelock to Columbia. Maybe I read your post wrong.

Tennessee running backs coach Robert Gillespie traveled to Havelock, N.C., on Thursday to visit with Top247 all-purpose back Derrell Scott before his official visit to Florida this weekend. The Vols and South Carolina still are believed to be the front-runners to land Scott, and the Gamecocks also sent defensive line coach Deke Adams to visit with Scott on Thursday

While Tennessee seems to have plenty of momentum with Scott, some people close to his recruitment don’t believe he’s leaving heavily toward any of his three finalists at this point, so there’s plenty to be decided before he announces his college choice Jan. 27 at his school. Jones and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier both are scheduled to use their visits with Scott next week — with Spurrier currently expected to get the final visit between the two head coaches — leading up to Scott’s announcement. -247 Sports

Post from the Florida side on his official visit.

The Skinny: Heading into this visit the Volunteers and Gamecocks are sitting at the top for Scott's services. However a source close to Scott has told Inside the Gators if the visit goes well UF could skyrocket up the list. Scott's mother will also accompany the four-star back during his trip to Gainesville.
