'14 OH SG Zach McCormick

“@NewEraURI_Hoops: URI Target: '14 OH G Zach McCormick (@ZMcCormick1) is down to Five. Ohio U, Miami OH, URI, WKU and Marshall still stand. #GoRhody”

Good luck to zach, pretty clear between Mitchell and now zach that we were/are only taking one guard.

lol I bet Zach is kicking himself for not jumping on the UT offer. Glad it worked out the way it did though.

Believe your right, but wish we wouldn't cut ties with Tadrick Jackson just yet.

1. Would love to have a lefty shooting guard.
2. In case of attrition with us/who know Mark Fox's situation after this season. And I think they are current leaders.
3. His ceiling looks higher than either McCormick or Mitchell

He is long shot for us I know, but would love to see Larry creating for Jackson to penetrate or pop.

Martin seems to like his 2&3 to be 6'5" plus, don't see him go after many shorter 2 or 3s.

Why is that exactly?

Not sure i have the real reason.

My belief...Martin thinks he can get players to be like he was. Recruit 6'5"-6'6" wings who work hard, have a good work ethic and are athletic...and that they will work to improve their shot like he did.

Like I said I'm not sure if that's accurate, but it makes sense in my head. Could also be that alot of coaches like those tall athletic wings, they're "sexy" if you will. Pearl fell into this trap, his success all started with undersized guards who could shoot, then he started recruiting tall, athletic wings with subpar shots and his teams success suffered.

If I had to guess, I would say it's because he likes having a length advantage on defense. Most of Coach Martin's recruiting tendencies seem to be based on defense.
Yeah, I was thinking that too. But then again, it won't help against the quicker, smaller 2/3s. There's advantages to having size but also disadvantages.

What like Tatum and Woolridge? Do you think Martin ever looks at a guy whose (let's say) 6'2 and can shoot but passes because of his height?

Yea all the time...we just passed on Mitchell and McCormick. If either of them was 6'5"-6'7" I'd say we'd still be pushing for them.
