'14 OH SG Zach McCormick

On the craft comparison I made earlier...wasn't craft a low rated guy? I pulled an old article and when he committed to Tennessee he picked them over Dayton, Miami (Ohio) and butler.

Just thought that was kinda interesting.

Yes. Pearl discovered Craft when no one else was giving him a look. He liked his defense and leadership (most likely learned as QB for his HS football team). It was the summer before his senior year that he blew up and was offered by Matta. The rest, as they say, is history.

Has anyone been able to find more film on this kid?

Pull up Turgin HS on Hudl.com
Open the roster and watch the videos on his team mates.
Another one of the 2 month wonders.
Wouldn't come close to Craft caliber.

What do you mean by 2 month wonder? Are you saying this kid, along with London, aren't as good as their recent bumps suggest?

I'm assuming you're saying that McCormick going from unranked to likely being around 150 or so in the next 247 update along w/ London skyrocketing from unranked to around the top 50 mark, are both undeserving?

WTF?

So you make one completely false statement about him being not very athletic, just to be found you're wrong. So then you move on to another dumb statement about how 6'1"-6'2" is now apparently too short for a college PG?

You realize Aaron Craft who is regarded as on of the best defensive PGs in college basketball is about the same measurables as McCormick?

After watching his videos he is a decent athlete nothing outstanding. Seems your really high on him so I guess we need him badly. You seem to jump from one player to another as the coaching staff evaluates them. I bet you were real high on Washpun when he was being recruited.

So you admit then that you made the comment about him not being athletic enough without watching any tape? So I assume I was correct then in that you formed this opinion because of his skin color?

No, I've been critical of many recruits, and many guys we have signed. I try not to voice an opinion on a certain recruit until I've at least watched some film and seen what his coaches have to say. Apparently this isn't something you do, you just google image to see if they're black or white and form your opinion from there.

He started his response with.. "After watching his videos"... Just saying.

Read back a few pages...

His first post about McCormick was saying e wanted a more athletic PG. I responded by asking if this assumption is based on him being white, because he has a dunk on sportscenter top 10 that's pretty athletic.

After that, he now says, after watching video he is athletic. So my post was about him initially judging McCormicks athletic ability off his skin color apparently, and not any actual video. It was only after he was informed about McCormicks leaping ability that he went and watched video and has now changed his stance on McCormick not being athletic.

What did he average in college, I'm more concerned about that than what he averaged for a Puerto Rico HS team.
You're talking about a kid that was brought back from an injury before he was ready. It was quite evident he wasn't in game shape.
I'll make a final judgement on him after this season.

So you're all about giving Reese 4 years of high school, and 2 of college, but are writing off McCormick after 3 years of high school?

Who's writing him off. You were comparing him to Craft.
He is quite a step down from Mitchell though.
JMO, but to make this a class for the future, Zo has to land both Hurt and Mitchell. No settling.

Well from your last word of this post "settling", definitely doesn't sound like you think very highly of McCormick, which was my point. You've been the biggest supporter of Reese, and are wiling to give him 4 years of high school and 2 years of college, but you won't even give McCormick 3 years of high school before deciding that he would be "settling" for someone.

He's gonna be ranked in the top 150, ahead of Jaquel Richmond who many were gung ho about not too long ago. I wasn't comparing him to Craft in their level of talent, but rather they had similar paths. Both played football, were under the radar unranked basketball prospects out of Ohio, and both blew up in their last year of AAU as a point guard.

As for the "no settling"....as soon as we missed on Lyle we were forced to have to "settle". I'd rather settle on a guy like McCormick than Washpun, or Reese.

Have to admit, my initial reaction was a knee jerk response to the token whitey's we usually recruit.
After looking at his eybl stats he can't be as bad as he looks on film.

I edited this in afterwards to my last post you quoted...

As for the "whiteys"....who has Zo brought in that was white?
