It's quite ridiculous. After a loss in football, for example, they create a "vent thread" where you can pretty much say whatever you wish. The thread lasts for about a day, and then no more discussion about that game is permitted. Furthermore, you are not permitted to critique/criticize ANYTHING that ANYONE associated with the athletic teams chooses to do. For example, I once commented on Connor Shaw and all I said was that I wish he would throw it out of bounds as opposed to taking a sack. This post was promptly deleted and I was reprimanded for my criticism of Shaw.

Oh god I just read a few pages on the Poona thread on CockyTalk. I realize we have some people here on VN with orange shades on but WOW they are drinking the kool-aid over there. :crazy:

Wow. Talk about taking away your First Amendment rights haha. We say worse than that about players that we have nothing at all to complain about.

There is a lot of criticism of Shaw on that board. I see it all the time from people who want to see a gunslinger leading the team. There are posts that get deleted, but most don't. Usually the ones that get deleted are part of an argument on recruit threads. I have got a few of mine deleted, but they were deleted because I chimed in on an argument that got nasty between others so the whole ongoing argument was deleted. It shouldn't have been on a recruit thread to begin with, and they will delete for it. I'm cool with it. As long as the you don't make personal attacks, or are baiting and trolling, you are fine. I will admit some of those posters on Cockytalk really get on my nerves, but I see people just like them here. You are not allowed to attack players and recruits, especially those that choose other schools. I don' t see anything wrong about that.

The level of homerism there is really no different than any other message board. However, the criticism is extremely limited, and I think the board suffers as a result. The mods try to regulate every little thing that is posted. The people that run it seem to believe that anything negative that is posted on there is going to hurt the university. In my opinion, what is posted on a message board in no way, shape, or form has any bearing on recruiting or anything of that nature. If you have a coach that knows what he is doing - and we do - then it won't matter what someone chooses to post on a message board.

Like I said, he could commit by the end of the week to Vols. If he doesnt by the end of this week, then he will do his camp tour, specifically UT and OSU and then make his decision. I feel strongly that he will commit by end of June. That could change of course, but that is how I see it playing out right now. Also, besides what SC fans want to believe, once he commits to any school, he will be locked in and going there no matter what school it is (unless something crazy like school gets in trouble etc). He wont switch. If you knew the kid, you would know that he goes by his word.

I will have to say anything negative on Vol Nation on their own school gets buried by all off topic discussion on their threads. I have never seen so much topic stuff on any board, but maybe that is good thing sometimes to have the light hearted off topic stuff.

Can only talk about the same thing for so long, till it gets boring or redundant. the off topic stuff keeps things interesting IMO. We talk about the news when there is some.

Man, this kids tape is ridiculous.. He is so explosive. If he could get that quick 1st step a little more consistent, there's no limit to his potential..

With all of our dline graduating after this year, he would be walking into a perfect situation at UT... Especially with the elite skill players we r getting in here in his class.

Thanks for all the great info C2P! Poona is already a fan favorite here on Volnation. We already consider him part of the Vol family and look forward to his arrival. Can't wait for him to make it official!

I do not have a membership nor a login for cockytalk. Please let the guy (Cockyness11) know that there is no player on Hilton Head's varsity or JV team named Chase Williams. So the info he claims he's getting saying Poona is going to SC couldnt be more wrong. Here is what gets me. Everyone comments like Knoxville is on the West Coast. It is a 5 1/2.....maybe 6 hour drive from Hilton Head. Clemson is 5 hours away from Hilton head.
