I think that is obvious but is there a big difference in him and Owen Williams? They seem like very similiar players don't they?

If Ford was 6'1, he's be a Vol right now. But he's maybe 5'11. That's extremely short when going against 6'6 OL.

He plays hard, has a great motor, and makes a lot of plays. But pretty much every big school has backed off because he's so short

i cant remember who it was (hubbs, fortenberry, etc.) that said the staff thought differently when they saw him in person. said he is probably 5'10 or 5'11

We need 30 DL? C'mon man. Out staff doesn't want this guy for a reason. We have 7 DL commits and some ATH's that can play DL, most notably Jerome Dews who said he planned on playing LEO. We will be fine without someone the staff doesn't really think is good

I disagree. I just think the staff doesn't think he's good enough combined with his height. Jmo

Ok fair enough. I just want to see explosive players instead of big blobs out there. For the record, I love the Owen Williams pickup. I thought his film looked great. I think this staff and this class is making us more athletic in every position.

Wouldn't being shorter allow for better leverage vs taller OL if you're trying to rush the passer? Just wondering about this.

Leverage is important, but it plays more into pad level than height.

If being shorter were better, we'd have a bunch of midgets in the NFL. I don't know if there's a DL under 6' in the whole NFL, but if there is, there's sure not many

Their situation is "easing up" a bit as several "unexpected" JR's (Hampton/Ellington) declared for the Draft and a couple of other guys buried on the depth chart (and a projected started than moved to be closer to ailing parents) announced they are transferring. I think they have room for him now.

Why do you think he is under 6' when all of the recruiting sites have him at least 6' or 6'1? Even maxpreps has him at 6'. Where are you getting your info?
