'14 TN ATH Vic Wharton (UT Signee 2/5/14)

would have even had Switzer's number back there fielding punts. wonder what he'll snag.

Show him some love.

Don't blame a kid for taking visits, either, just+ hope he's a no-doubt Vol.

You can't blame a kid for taking visits before committing. If he's taking visits after committing, it's cause for concern and a sign to other commits that commitments aren't meant to be honored.

Another thing I am sure is bothering him is the talk of other recruits being recruited to return punts just as he was told

I don't know exactly what it is but I do know that nobody on VN ever mentioned blue shirting until someone on here made a thread about it. Ever since then, blue shirting seems to be a big thing around here. He's not getting a blue shirt.
You don't 'get' a blueshirt, just like you don't 'get' a gray shirt. Just a term to describe how one is being afforded a scholarship. The LOI has been the tradition, but in actuality a player does not have to sign a LOI.

The benefit of a LOI is that per NCAA rules a player can no longer be recruited by any other D1 schools once they have signed. So, if a player does go the blue route, then they can still be recruited up until they are enrolled and scholarship papers signed. A pretty big risk if you ask me.

Are you personally connected to Vic?

Yes, me and my mom are good friends with him and the family. They're great people.

With the NCAA's definition of a 'recruited athlete' being so inclusive, I would find it hard to believe that VW could even be eligible for a blue shirt. They've surely reached out in ways that would cross the threshold, even when Dools was here.

Any way, if he didn't OV here so the staff could save a visit for someone else, then he deserves to take a visit to ND if he wants. I say go and have fun.
