'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Well hopefully we won't have to worry about missed assignments or poor angles as much with these new recruits on campus. The '14 secondary recruits will be a breath of fresh air once they learn the defence.

I said the player wasn't directly his responsibility but he also didn't try to make a play period. If he can drive a blocker back he can get off that block. That's what good players do. Swafford was a walkon and looked like one against the good teams. No shade but it is what it is.

He closed down the outside by driving a blocker back. I never said he was Brandon Browner. I said he played screens well when it comes to assignment football. When this same situation comes about next yr I doubt I t will be as much of a problem unless Moseley just gets drove out of the way.

If Moseley holds on to that spot. The dogs are on campus now. :)

Very true, but they must've saw something in him for him to already be a starter as of now.

I just cant wait for it to be shown how much more athletic this will be.

They saw what most of us knew. We're slow on defense and he can run. He and couple other DBs need to redshirt but we just don't have the athletes to do that.

True but athleticism alone wont get u to start over someone even like coleman. They must've saw enough to feel comfortable with moving coleman to nickel. The way I see it is there will be virtually no drop off outside and an improvement at nickel. Therefore, a better secondary.

I don't think it would be possible for us to be worse. Seriously.

No question that the back 7 should be better. Will the DLine be even worse and keep the D from taking a big step for.

Coleman isn't anyone who just makes plays man....... Especially outside he gets lit up in the passing game.

Okay I said a while back that there's nothing Coleman does a freshman can't do. What's new man?

He can read plays for the most part. If coleman is so bad, why is still going to be starting at nickel? Because his skill set is better for nickel. Tyrann Mathieu isnt a lockdown CB, but hes perfect for the nickel. Not saying they are the same player but Coleman will be better than Toney in that role easily.

No way to know if he'll be starting at nickel

He's a better fit inside no doubt. But we are short on talent in the backend. A couple of walkon were the nickel last year. Think about it man. Why do you think we brought in so many DBs. The guys that played last year outside of Sutton were bad....

Im not denying that but Coleman isnt a lost cause. He was at least average and is scrappy enough to flourish at nickel. We were bad at DB, no doubt but Moseley isnt gonna just walk his 165 lb self out there and steal reps if he cant play.

He isn't competing against Toney now though. He's competing against the losers of the other corner spot. My bet is on one of Gaulden, Payne, Foreman, Berry, Moseley beating him out.

Gaulden and payne are the only 2 Id play there. But I doubt payne will and i dont think Gaulden will. Plus Gaulden has a shot to start at FS along with TKjr.

Why do they have to be referred to as losers? Vfl are Vfl

briefly talked to Rashaan a moment ago, said coaches have him at safety

edit: Spoke again with him, primarily learning free safety but they want him to learn nickel as well
