'14 TN DB Todd Kelly Jr. (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Just watched his senior highlight and all I can say is LaDarrell McNeil better watch out or his spot could be in jeopardy

Just watched TK's senior highlights. All I can say is wow, very impressed. Obviously they were dominated by his offensive plays since I'm sure most teams avoided running or passing toward his area.

As a running back he was a man amongst boys. I know his competition was weak but you can still tell he's an elite athlete. It almost seemed like tape was sped up on those runs, kid can fly!

As a DB with the Vols, he will seriously be a threat to pick six anything he gets his hands on. Once he adjusts to the college game he has All-SEC potential no doubt.

I don't necessarily think they start day one, but it won't take either long. As soon as all our new DB's adjust to the college game, look out.

He was deep for kickoffs but teams very rarely kicked to him. Which was smart by the opposing coaches. He is very good with the ball in his hands but the chance of him playing on the offensive side of the ball is pretty slim right now.

Just because he looks good on offense playing high school football doesn't mean he will or is good enough to do the same in The SEC.. Which is the NFL minor league.. Ever see Eric Berrys high school film playing Offense?? Hw many snaps did he see?

No disrespect meant to TKJr., but his school played against some really, really, really weak competition. They played more than one game against schools that have less than 100 boys, grades 9-12. In most of the games he played this year he truly was a man playing against boys. bUTch'll put him where he has the best chance to shine.

I may be mistaken but I believe some of the small private schools specialize in sports like football and basketball, so they get a lot of excellent athletes. I know Brentwood Academy used to be very tough in football and I think it still goes on in some of them.

Problem is that Webb (the school that TKJr. attends) does not play against BA, Ensworth, etc., despite having more students than either of those schools. Instead Webb "plays down" (they are entitled to under the rules) and plays against schools like Mt. Juliet Christian School, King's Academy, Ezell-Harding, etc. Last year, Riverside Christian forfeited against Webb when one of their 11 (total) players was injured the week before and TSSAA rules did not allow them to start the Webb game with only 10 players.

Webb played a couple of good out of district games this year (they lost both), but those are the type of schools that they play week in and week out. Makes for some pretty awesome highlight films!!

According to high school sports, Webb has the Strength Rank: 1st Schedule Rank: 1st in Div II. Everyone loses to Maryville. Just the way it is.

That's fine that you don't know much about Tennessee high school football. Webb does NOT have the toughest schedule in D2 - they don't even play against the top 6-8 teams in D2. As I said, their in-region games are against tiny schools, many of which have barely enough players to field a team. They could play up (like BA and Ensworth do), but for their own reasons, they choose not to (probably because when they did a couple of years ago, they didn't win an in-region game). Just the way it is, but I am telling you that it makes for some really boring games but for some really awesome highlight tapes.
