'14 TN DB Todd Kelly Jr. (UT Signee 2/5/14)

McNeil didn't play well and will have many good reasons to be looking over his shoulder this august

I see a lot of hate for McNeil. Wasn't it Coleman constantly getting beat?

Yes, but McNeil also played/looked slow often. He also had a habit of missing tackles. He could turn out great, but his production this far has not been of the caliber that we need.

McNeil's problem isn't speed or missing tackles. His main problem is being out of position....football IQ

I just said he played and looked slow, and a lot if that is positioning. I maintain that he missed some tackles this year, not as many as Toney, but he wasn't a really sure tackler.

McNeil is more than capable when coming forward and defending about a square area of 10-15 yards. He struggles when forced to play a half of the field and keep things in Front of him.

McNeil needs to tackle much better. That BS from last year won't cut it. Especially if all he can do is be a true SS. He should at the least be a good/great tackler.

Awards for the Army game from TOS:
Bring the pain: this award goes to the biggest hitter of the week. He didn't win, but honorable mention isn't bad

Honorable Mention: Tennessee commit Todd Kelly was a heavy hitter all week for the East

I hate to count on a true Freshman who isn't an EE to be a major contributor their first year, but if TK isn't starting over McNeil by midseason, I'll be disappointed.

Or just hope McNeil puts it together this year.

It has always got to be the new guy on VN.

Two years ago people couldn't wait until McNeil replaced the guy before him.

McNeil was just a sophomore, too, and playing in a new defense, with seemingly no coaching in his freshman year.

I'm not sure why fans of a team that has had Michael Palardy, Zach Rogers, Montarrio Hardesty, etc. etc. still expect every player to peak in their first couple of seasons.
