i think hes solid but if he thinks the depth chart is less crowded at ole miss he has another thing coming. we are as thin as it gets on the d line in the sec

It seems like Ole Miss has the momentum with Sawyers. I think think Barnett sticks regardless, but do you you guys think landing Sawyers would mean they don't come after Barnett as hard?

Wonder what's irking this kid. You think it's because UT continues to recruit DLs even though there are several in the fold, particularly him?

I've seen people seem to mention in passing that all this happened when they took Robertson's commitment. I dont know if it's an issue with him specifically or the fact that they continued to take defensive lineman. To be honest, I kind of wish they had just stayed content with the DL class they had at that point. Unless that last guy was a JUCO or a truly elite prospect I wouldn't have taken anymore for this very reason.

Yes I think so. I cant say I really blame him. They have more than enough in the fold for one class IMO. At some point you have to cut it off at a certain position and pick it back up next year because this very thing will happen.

I would feel the same too if Thomas wasn't a super soft commit right now. At least that's how I view his commitment.

Maybe he didn't literally mean talk at home but just they would talk on the way home & at home once they had time in private to openly break everything down.

Either way sounds like hes all VOL and that's all that really matters! :)

If he wants us to stop looking for alternate options...commit! Sign the papers!!! If all the stalls in the barn are filled with talent like him, we won't have to keep looking. But the smart man keeps recruiting until the barn is full.
I want this kid badly, but we have to keep shopping until we have the big boys that we need.

Barnett has no reason to worry. He is one of the most talented linemen in this class and should be in the two-deep very quickly. A guy like Thomas has a more legitimate reason to worry.

Who says it was 3 hours of silence. Probably just didn't talk as much about the visit as you think he may have. There are other topics people discuss other than what obsessed fans talk about.

agreed Barnett will be a starter very quickly. Our lack of depth is why we recruited a large number of DL. Barnett will be one of the DL stars at UT for the next 4 years

No way he's worried about depth. Everybody has about the same number of DL and all of ours will be extremely young. That's an easier situation to earn a starting spot than the alternative. Where you have young guys and experienced guys to compete with. Plus everybody is going to recruit more. I see the flip side of the argument, but no way an elite guy like Barnett doesn't know he will start early and win the spot.

I see Barnett, Hendrix, & Williams being in the rotation next year.

I'm wondering if Barnett and Hendrix are leery of one another? Both are top 10 rated SDE recruits. Just wondering if other teams are using the "well, Derek, you will either have to sit behind Hendrix for a few years or they will move you to DT. Come here and you don't have that to worry about."
