from a small town, will die in a small town. the drive to nashville is a joke. traffic is bad. the nice area in franklin, is straight sprawl. if its any consolation didnt care for w knox either.

It's too bad that you consider Franklin to be the "nice area" of Nashville. It ain't.

Why do Vandy fans think an undergrad degree from VU is an automatic ticket to success for a lifetime, while a degree from ANY other school might as well be used as toilet paper?

Their inflated view of their institution is worse than their inflated view of their football program.

This is JMO FWIW: I believe that the professors and the administration at Vandy hammers it into their students heads that they are smarter and a level above any student at any other school. However, it's like putting name tags on vehicles, you can have a Vandy Chevy Corvair and put Vandy Corvette on it and sell it to a business for that and it's still going to be a Corvair. You can have a TN Lincoln and sell it to a business for a Lincoln and it will be a Lincoln.
To sum this up, you're buying a name at Vandy. If you go out into the real world and are unable to perform the Vandy degree won't help you.

The attitude part: Prolly cause he drilled an Ensworth kid on the final play of their playoff game a couple of months ago, when they game was already decided and the kid was going out of bounds. Key word, Ensworth. Not much love for UT at the E.

He didn't "drill" him, it isn't like he ran him over. He pushed him and the guy went flying. They are making a whole lot out of nothing.

There hasn't been much love for UT at Ensworth. Hopefully it changes soon. Kids need to be fans first and since those kids were in 8th grade, UT has sucked. Many of the surgeons and doctors in town are affiliated with Vandy and Ensworth has taken over mba as their choice. Basically, the elite of elite, which is how Vandy people view themselves. Other parents I know with kids there are people who moved here from other parts of the country where land is so affordable, paying that much for private school is nothing, and they have no affiliation to UT

I honestly don't see Barnett flipping, but it really doesn't make a difference. Vandy has reached its pinnacle of success. Book that :eek:lol:

My best guess on this is that the majority of Vanderbilt fans, students, and alumni are not native Tennesseeans. Most if not all of the Vandy folk I've met fit this description. They come down, get their degree, and move back up North or to the PNW or somewhere else, whereas the majority of Tennessee fans, students, and alumni are native Tennesseeans/Southerners and will likely stay here or around here. In the state of Tennessee, and even most parts of the South, a UT degree is worth as much if not more than a Vandy degree. But most out-of-staters don't understand this.

Vandy does have some decent professional programs, and to be honest, if I got into both UT Law and Vandy Law, I would absolutely go to Vandy. But for undergrad? No way, no point.

For the most part this is probably true but in my lifetime (and I am old) the best elected official in Tennessee has been Howard Baker - a UT College Of Law grad.

Tomorrow is gonna be a great day. We get to whoop Vandy twice. First with an all-out signing day smack down and then later when our basketball team takes them to town on their own home court. Can't wait.

Hey, just for giggles, here's a post on the "Anchor of Gold" message board. To be fair, this is before they just had a big weekend signing their 6 2-3stars, including giving a scholly to a HS long snapper.

Anywho, here you go.....Enjoy....

I find the continued loss of players VERY worrysome
These are guys who consciously gave Vandy a chance, waited for the whole staff to get in place and then said, “Nope. I just don’t want to be with you.”

And one of them went to UCF???

Seriously, that makes me very scared. What possible pitch does UCF have? Faster playing time, maybe? Otherwise there is no conceivable reason to choose them over us. You’ll never be on TV. You won’t face good competition. Your NFL chances won’t be any higher. You won’t play in front of any more fans. Hell, the general public cares even less about UCF football than Vandy football. And, of course, your degree will be absolutely worthless when you emerge from school and the NFL ignores you.

CDM’s inability to convince someone to choose Vandy over UCFingF should scare the hell out of Vandy fans.

Is it conclusive proof that CDM is a lousy recruiter? No. Not by any means. But it’s not anything to shrug off either.

Ask Brandon Marshall how bad UCF prepared him for the NFL, or why anyone would want to play in a 2 yr old stadium that seats 10k more than Vandy, or have the likes of Texas come to YOU in a home and home series, or win a BCS bowl, or have an engineering or computer science degree so good that grads would use Vandy's to wipe their ass with or be on a beautiful campus in 80 degree weather yr round, or be at one of the largest university's in the country in one of the most culturally diverse cities and finally have the opportunity to nail chicks like Blake Bortles g/f. Just ask him how he enjoyed UCF.
