Why do Vandy fans think an undergrad degree from VU is an automatic ticket to success for a lifetime, while a degree from ANY other school might as well be used as toilet paper?
Their inflated view of their institution is worse than their inflated view of their football program.
The attitude part: Prolly cause he drilled an Ensworth kid on the final play of their playoff game a couple of months ago, when they game was already decided and the kid was going out of bounds. Key word, Ensworth. Not much love for UT at the E.

For the most part this is probably true but in my lifetime (and I am old) the best elected official in Tennessee has been Howard Baker - a UT College Of Law grad.My best guess on this is that the majority of Vanderbilt fans, students, and alumni are not native Tennesseeans. Most if not all of the Vandy folk I've met fit this description. They come down, get their degree, and move back up North or to the PNW or somewhere else, whereas the majority of Tennessee fans, students, and alumni are native Tennesseeans/Southerners and will likely stay here or around here. In the state of Tennessee, and even most parts of the South, a UT degree is worth as much if not more than a Vandy degree. But most out-of-staters don't understand this.
Vandy does have some decent professional programs, and to be honest, if I got into both UT Law and Vandy Law, I would absolutely go to Vandy. But for undergrad? No way, no point.
Hey, just for giggles, here's a post on the "Anchor of Gold" message board. To be fair, this is before they just had a big weekend signing their 6 2-3stars, including giving a scholly to a HS long snapper.
Anywho, here you go.....Enjoy....
I find the continued loss of players VERY worrysome
These are guys who consciously gave Vandy a chance, waited for the whole staff to get in place and then said, Nope. I just dont want to be with you.
And one of them went to UCF???
Seriously, that makes me very scared. What possible pitch does UCF have? Faster playing time, maybe? Otherwise there is no conceivable reason to choose them over us. Youll never be on TV. You wont face good competition. Your NFL chances wont be any higher. You wont play in front of any more fans. Hell, the general public cares even less about UCF football than Vandy football. And, of course, your degree will be absolutely worthless when you emerge from school and the NFL ignores you.
CDMs inability to convince someone to choose Vandy over UCFingF should scare the hell out of Vandy fans.
Is it conclusive proof that CDM is a lousy recruiter? No. Not by any means. But its not anything to shrug off either.
