It's not really a bad thing... He last visited us in June I think and has visited Vandy twice since then.. It gives us another chance to get him back on campus if Franklin has had any luck swaying him the past 2 visits.

That is incorrect. He was at UT for Foundation Day.

Barnett visited UT for the Foundation Day event just a couple/three weeks ago.

JMO but I have a feeling that if we get Lambert on Tuesday we will get Barnett next weekend. I just think he will want the decision behind him before his season starts. Like I said, JMO.

Edit: Thanks LV. I knew it was Lambert just wishing for Mosley too I guess. :)

Lambert is Tuesday, Mosley is possibly the 26th. Would love to have the 2 of them and Barnett on board before the 31st.

He wants to focus on school and his enjoying his senior year per new interview with Simmons. Will make a decision after the year will be able to take OV's with his family to UT and Vandy and then make decision after high school football is over.

Hope he has a spot come Dec/Jan. If the coaches told other DTs we were full and passed on them, it makes me think they have others very very interested. Waiting may not be the best of ideas. Maybe the coaches take another kid ready to commit sooner and help Derek make his decision to stay closer to Nashville.

I know you seemingly never are an advocate for holding spots but this has to be that time IMO. In state elite talent. Can't just move and hand him to a divisional rival. Too much at stake

So do we ride it out and risk losing out on other DTs altogether? I see Barnett as a project DT as it is. He will need to add some major weight before he can play. Year 2 at best and possibly year 3 before he is seeing serious reps IMO. While rated very high as a DE, not sure I risk passing on any more DTs while he tries to find a way to talk himself into going to candy as his mother wants. Don't get me wrong. If we have a spot when he is ready to commit, we take him. Do I hold a spot for him and pass on other DTs all the way till January? Nope.
