'14 TN RB/DB Daryl Rollins

If Jaylond Woods from Lenior City can get an offer then both Rollins and Hawkins deserve one. Not trying to take anything away from Jaylond Woods he a very good athlete himself. But speed and athleticism of Rollins and Hawkins can not be ignored any longer.

I totally agree I really think UT is regret this one I believe Rollins is more of a playmaker than Powell and would smoke Brandon Powell in a foot race

Wow. You really feel strongly about this cat. Is anyone new coming on strong recruiting wise for him?

Daryl's been coming to Atlanta since 8th grade with Jabari Davis competing in camps and combines so I've really got to know him. His work ethic is phenomenal and he just keeps getting better. He has great hands out of the backfield and his burst and explosion is expectional. He's faster than anyone we had on our board I mean he came and ran a sub 4.4 laser 40 at the UT camp. So yes I'm very high on him
Because I have seen alot of him. But I have seen alot of 4 star WR/ RB guys that are overrated or don't have the desire to compete. I think we will be missing out because I've seen Daryl go against alot of top guys in the south and make them look stupid he's just not getting the coverage he deserves plus he came and won the Atlanta Nike Sparq Combine and didnt get any coverage on that. There's no difference between him and Taj Griffin actually Daryl is faster and has better hands and run better routes

Is he bigger than the 5' 8" 160 listed in the OP? Maybe size is holding people back, but if he lasered a sub 4.4 he deserves a very close look. Corner / KR maybe?

Those are old numbers.

Listed at 5'10" and 173 on this year's Fulton roster, and after seeing him in street clothes a few days ago that appears to be pretty accurate.

I usually don't buy into the under the radar, local kid type guys (like Raegan and the kid committed to Mizzou) but I really hope Rollins gets an offer. He looks like an eventual impact player on film.

Rollins is without a doubt a major D-1 talent. They have 2 or 3 players who are D-1 level. Powell isn't chopped liver guys. They're a little down this year, but not that down.

Fulton also has a 280lb MLB who is fast and athletic. He ran about a 30-40yd TD last night too. Yes I said 280. I didn't believe it either as they discussed it on the radio yesterday, until I saw it. Dude could move and was dropping fools. This is an unbelievably, INCREDIBLY talented football team. Again, I think they have 2-3 guys who could play major D-1 ball. I don't really give a damn what Rivals.com says.

Does anyone know if Fulton is using him at CB this year?

They probably could, but they have 2 studs at the CB position in Hawkins and Jr. Dominique Williams and solid back ups. I'd say the coach would like to keep him on offense and give him a breather during defense because he means more to the team at running back.

I wouldnt mind taking a run at Rollins, Hawkins, Cooperwood, or Penny Smith, but our last few spots are valuable. I would like to see a walkon situation however.

The only reason I ask is because he'd get more D1 looks at corner. His coach needs to do him a favor and let him work there.

I thought I remember reading an article/interview after Rollins visited one of our camps and it talked about the coaches trying him at CB and he could be offered if he did well. When the offer did not come, I figured maybe CB was not his best position.

He can't quite flip his hips the way he needs to be able to. But there's still a place on the field for him. Slot WR, situational RB. His speed is real as is his abilities. Again, where they project at the college level is to be debated. And I'm not saying UT is messing up by not taking them. Because I understand the concept of needs vs overall talent. UT MIGHT NOT NEED WHAT THIS KID HAS TO OFFER....people need to understand that. But I stand by my statement that there are 2-3 big time players on this team. This is one of the best HS teams I've seen in this area in a while.

Very good post.

I don't disagree. I've been high on Rollins for quite some time. There's a spot for him on UT's roster. There should be, at least.

I believe he can play secondary in college. Even if he doesn't play the position much in high school. A college coach can see his speed and abilities and decide if can he make a position change once he gets to college. It would be a process, but he has the work ethic to make the change.

Fulton really is all that. Wow.

Rollins = Toney IMO. If there is a place for a solid nickel/dime DB to match up with shifty slot receivers he might be it. Toney was a PWO, IIRC.

Yeah, I would like to see him come here along with Cooperwood. If they don't I understand.....kinda. I've seen the Aaron Douglas, Brandon Warrens of the world. I'm just confused as to how some kids get 4-5*s and some get 2*s with no offers. Rogan was a low 3*IIRC and turned out to be one of the better D-1 players from this area in a while. Rollins IMO is the truth. Cooperwood, he's good. But they had a couple other guys who are straight up ballers. Their MLB/K/RB weighs 280. I've heard zero talk of him. He's nimble as could be. Just confused I guess. Because these kids are really good.

Me too, I was hoping we would offer him in the summer. I understand the concept of being able to only taking so many recruits. I just feel like this guy would do work for us. Replace Powell with Rollins. I don't feel like Blair will come, Malone I think is 50-50 with UGA. Berrys would be two of the seven. If Barnett chooses Vandy, which I hope he doesn't, I would definitely take Rollins. We need that speed, and he can be WR/RB/KrPR. Feel like he would try to out work everyone because of his current offer list. It could expand as the season goes on, and if he is a back up plan UT, our offer late might just be to late, especially if he gets a big time offer before ours. I don't know, just like to see him in Orange.

I agree Rollins is more dynamic than Powell and Truitt. Every DB starts off usually at a different position in high school so there used to going forward but an exceptional athlete can make the transition. But I think he's a weapon with the ball in his hands. I'm hearing WV may offer soon and I know KSU has inquired about him. Rollins would come to UT and be one of the fastest kids on the team as a freshman

DJ Campbell is the big 280 pound "jumbo athlete" it's crazy how he moves to be that size. His ball skills and instincts are great. Only thing I wonder is if he keeps putting on weight he will most likely end up with his hand on the ground in college. Imagine what that kid could do at 240-250 pounds OMG.

How are his hips? At that size he'll need great hips to play CB.
