'14 TN Xavier Hawkins WR/CB/KR

Wasn't there an issue about his position? IIRC, UT suggested he move to LB, but he wants to play in the secondary and Vandy told him he could. It seemed like a pretty quick commitment. I imagine he'll regret his decision when Josh comes to UT and we get back to curb stomping Vanderbilt.

I think Emmanuel does have the frame to play LB. We pulled TKjr real early, and Franklin sold Emmanuel on being "the guy" at Vandy. He told Emmanuel he would be riding the pine at UT since we had TK on board. Pretty lame, but it is what it is.

Vandy also has another good Safety commit in this class... Kyle Gibson

Is his brother, Josh Smith elite?

No I wouldn't call him elite. He's a very fundamentally sound kid. He trains with IFM and Buck Fitzgerald, so he's ahead of the curve compared to most LBs.

Is UT going to highly pursue the kid? Definitely. He isn't a make or break in a class, but he would be a very good pull for either team. Definite 4 star and a top 200 player, IMO.

If the coaches felt he was worth a scholarship spot, he would have one. It seems pretty clear they don't feel that way with the recruiting board the way it is. CMB could very well have attended the game and spoke to Xavier and the family to let them know UT would love to have him as a walk-on and a possible scholarship in the future.

Because "Xavier fast, he good". The homerism is too strong here for his dad and touch. They obviously have a horse in this race, and it isn't supporting UT.

Man you are stupid! If you don't like the kid then that's fine. Do you think you look cool coming on here trashing this kid? I'm not his dad. I don't know his dad. I'm a fan and I do support UT every year with season tickets. He is fast and he is good and YOU NEED TO GROW UP!! You obviously haven't seen the kid play and base everything you know off of recruiting sites and what these sites tell you.

That's correct. According to 990 am last week,UT has offered him as a preferred walk-on for 2014 w a scholly for 2015 if he is what UT thinks he can be. With his grades he qualifies for the hope scholarship plus grants so he can go to school free the first year.

I'm thinking a Blueshirt offer would be even better than that...if they indeed think he can help at any position, and don't just see him as depth.

If he wasnt a legacy. He wouldnt even be on the orange radar.

Yea that's no way to talk about a future vol. This kid has worked hard and is a monster on both sides of the ball. He really showed out at some camps this summer. Him being a legacy probably helped, but he is a talented kid.

Guys, it's fine to support local kids. I do that with my area as well. I posted a few updates on the starting QB of my old HS. The problem I have is coming on here and acting like "why the hell doesn't UT offer now?!?!?". It's apparent he isn't on our radar for an offer as of now. Coming and posting stats or updates is fine. Trying to start arguments of why he is better than Neiko or Vic IS NOT OKAY. Please take that garbage out of here. You can talk up Xavier all you want, but do NOT talk down on our recruits because you have your own agenda. UT football is what we are here to support first and foremost, not local prospects you have a relationship with.

Exactly. I hope everything turns out ok with these local kids, but Tenn is not Florida/Cali/Texas. 3 star local talents don't quite cut it if we want to make noise in the SEC. I know, I know, Cobb, Willis, etc... Well, we did Blanc, Young, etc... Tenn high school football is certainly making huge strides, but let us not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Do tell..

Saying negative things about our current recruits due to someone that you feel should be recruited is a futile argument on here. No reason to say anything about any committed recruits in this situation. No one on VN is a UT coach. I would be fine with Hawkins on the Vols but it's not up to any of us.

I dont disagree. However I think Creamer fits that same bill and if he wasnt a legacy there wouldnt be interest. Then again he could come in and be a stud. What do I know? I made fun of the Bo Wallace thread!

Then show me where I was on the Hawkins bandwagon...

I hope Creamer is a stud and I wouldn't mind if Hawkins took the preferred walk on and earned a scholly by kicking ass. Any scenario that helps the Vols get back to the top!
