'14 TN Xavier Hawkins WR/CB/KR

First off Hawkins ran a confirmed 4.40 at the Tennessee camp this summer. So he needs to work on his knowledge!

Coach Black said that rollins davis also ran a 4.34 at the same TN camp. And he finished 1st out of about 1700 kids at the NIKE Sparq combine in Atlanta last year. Both are players just a little undersized.

Speed does not always equate to skill. Trust the coaches guys. No reason to bump this thread without pertinent news/discussion IMO.

I'm glad to hear the "knowledgeable" guy say no SEC teams are interested when I sat and talked to the TN Offensive coordinator who by the way had his small little girl with him in the freezing cold to watch Hawkins. Then he went down and talked with his mother. But let's go with the guy who has the facts.

Rollins-Davis and Hawkins are on some the SEC teams board.. Just a little further down.. As recruits sign and flip to different schools maybe then these guys will get a SEC offer. Randall Cobb Wasn't offered by Tennessee until Mid-December. Recruiting works itself out things fall into place..

I'm not saying we shouldn't take the other kids but why not take a shot with this kid?

Stats before the State Championship game

42 catches for 1138 yards 20 TDs 27.10 per
40 rushes for 606 yards 9 TDs 15.15 per
3 ints 122 yards 37.33 per
1 fumble return for TD
3 punt returns for TD
2194 all purpose yards 33TDs

Scored 4 TDs in the Championship game. 2 rushing 2 receiving. This kid can ball.

So Madkins8 it is obvious you spend most of your life on recruiting sites. I get it. Try getting out and watch a little live football for yourself.

You are probably a parent of some kid he made look bad this year.

Or someone who isn't irrational and biased. I think he would be a great walk-on and would be very happy if he makes that decision. If he doesn't, good luck to him at Furman or wherever he ends up.

If he ends up with a scholarship to Tennessee in the 2014 class, something would have gone horribly wrong between now and February 1.

I am trusting the coaches (Bajakian) since he was talking to me about the Hawkins kid at the game Saturday. He said they wanted Hawkins and Rollins-Davis but he wasn't sure how they were going to get them there. He was there sitting with the Oregon State coach.

Doesn't he have an offer to oregon state??

I think this kid and Vic Wharton are very similar players. If it weren`t for Vic, Hawkins may have a spot. With numbers being so tight we can ill afford to offer a guy with such a similar skill-set to a current commit.
