'14 TX DE Dimarya Mixon (UT commit 11/9/13)

I don't think we have one right now. We have a few guys who could really be big for us 1-3 years down the line.

To me, our problem lies more with the lack of depth we have from the guys already on the roster than the guys we have committed.

Agreed. I think Barnett and Thomas will prove to be very solid SEC DT in the future. I still believe Charles should slim down to 320 and play guard for us. That said, I do think we have game changers at LB and in the secondary with this class.

I don't know anything about UGA's next QB, Mason, but I heard an interview from someone who followed college football who said that he is a Murray clone. He looked decent against Tech with little preparation. I will be glad when Gurley leaves because he scares me. I agree that UGA appears to be the team to beat next year in the East, but we seem to say that almost every year.

Uga will be the team to beat. I think vandy takes a big step back, use does too. Mizzou will be pretty similar to this year. We should be competing just because almost everyone is taking a step back.

I like the additions to the line but I'm not sure we have a bonafide game changer at DT.

The thing is we have been waiting for years for a bonafide game changer at DT they are one in a million. To be quite honest with you the change in offenses to more spread base you won't see to many of them.

I believe that we will continue to recruit jumbo DE's who could be a hybrid. Thomas and Hedrix will be very good. Outside of Suh as of recent their hasn't really been true game changers recently at DT more are at the DE position.

I think Charles is a better DT that tackle. I agree that he should slim down to the 320-330 area.

Having that combination of size and speed on the DL will be great.

The Donald kid from Pitt is pretty darn good though. He's an elite pass rusher, and the guy has a none stop motor and just blows run plays up. Donald is the type of DTs I think we want. A 280-290LB fast and aggressive DT.

I really like the guys we got for sure, but if you are not worried about this DL moving forward you are insane imo.

We need guys to step up and show they can be dependable.

We need Vereen to grow from a pass rusher to a 3 down player. We need Carr to show up and prove he can be a rotation player.

Ideally we need 1-2 Freshman to come in and prove they are to good to redshirt and get in a 6 deep rotation.

This line is really young and cant afford any injuries.

I like what we brought in this year, but we have to make sure they get transitioned as well.

Like someone said, I still dont know if we have found that game changing DT which is huge in the SEC.

He's definitely good but wasn't considered to be elite coming out of HS. A lot of guys saying we haven't recruited an elite DT have to wait and see how some of these guys develop. He left HS at about 260lbs much like a lot of our DTS

I wouldn't worry so much about it. Most of yall are having panic attacks. Most DL won't be the "game changers" you are talking about until their junior year. Carr was a freshman last year so was Vereen. Vereen needs this off-season in the weight room to put on 10lbs, gain speed, and strength. I'm 110% sure we will have at least a 6 deep rotation at DL next year.

Lastly I'm sure this staff will continue to recruit DL. I don't think they will stop recruiting them after this class. It will take at least 1 more class before we have the depth you guys are talking about.

I understand, but we should be concerned about it, but that doesnt mean its going to be an issue.

We have a ton of new faces.

In the DT rotation, only Trevarris Saulsberry and Danny O'Brien will have been previous rotation players.

We have one Juco in Owen Williams and after that we are going to depend on FS Freshman or True Freshman unless a guy like Clark or Carson has made massive strides.

An injury at DT could be really bad. Now I have high hopes for O'Briens continued development but Saulsberry is already missing the spring with his knee.

I have less reservations about out ends, but we will be replacing Smith, Walls, and Miller out there.

I understand D-Line play has not been a strength recently, but imo it needs to be a strength to get back to where we are.

Just looking at the inexperience and depth chart absolutely is cause to be concerned, but its nothing that the coaches have not attempted to fix with the recruiting class.

Its going to take time, but I would like to see us get one of those impact DT's in the next few years, and who knows, maybe we have one that will emerge.

Thomas and Barnett are ends that we must feed until they become a DT. I hope the days of striking out on DT's and turning DE'S into tackles are over soon. When we start getting 2 elite DT recruits per yer the percentages say one or two should be pretty good. With the exodus of players this year due to graduation I'm surprised we didn't take a few more heavyweights. DT and qb would be the only positions considered subpar so far in this great class. If saulsbury and o'brien got hurt, we'd have to rely on Williams and mosely against power running teams. And if we had a 3rd injury we'd be forced to play the Clark's of the world or someone undersized at DT

I don't mind taking big DEs and turning them into athletic DTs at all. Of course I want a couple guys that come in with the size to play DT as well but a mix of the two is perfect IMO. Chavis did a pretty good job of taking a mix of the two iirc.

I don't mind it either, they should in theory be more athletic. I'm talking about time. We need a minimum of 4 300 pounders in the rotation like yesterday. Some will get there, Carr is close. But the new guys like Barnett for example, will be forced to play DT at say 278 in games where the 2 guys across from him weigh a total of 660 pounds. Looking forward to the day when we've got 10 to 12 guys that are available on the DL. 5 to 6 300 pound guys and 5 to 6 in the 280 range. Right now, we're skewed to the smaller side. I don't count Clark and Carson who never play

You're forgetting Jason Carr in that DT rotation which looks to be a key contributor if not starter. Also wondering if its possible they beef up RS freshman Malik Brown (think that's his name) or Vickers?

Yeah I love guys like that in the middle. Someone like John Henderson who about 290 when he played here I believe. A guy like that with a bigger run stopper (300-315) next to him is ideal IMO.

Here's what I think we will be rotating.

DE: Vereen, Williams, Miller, Lewis, and maybe a freshman or 2

DT: O'Brien, Saulsberry, Williams, Carr, Vickers, Brown, Clark, and a surprise freshman.

I would be fine if we got a juco DE.

I feel much better about DE than I do DT.

I think Maggitt plays DE too, so there's one more.

Watched this kid's highlights and he flashes really violent hands. Sometimes younger guys don't have that coming out of high school. I'm excited to see what this kid brings to the table in the spring.

I think it will look something like this:
DE: Vereen, J Williams, Hendrix, Lewis, Henderson, Vickers
DT: Saulsberry, OBrien, O Williams, Carr, Clark, Barnett
