'15 AL LB Keaton Anderson

"I had a great time. I got to go up with my teammates and that was the first time I really went with my teammates and we all really enjoyed it," Anderson explained. "My coach came and his wife came and that was maybe their first and second time and they were able to see the indoor complex and the stadium. We just had a great time. We really just got to talk to the coaches and got to sit down and have normal conversations and just see everybody."

"Just the excitement that they are bringing. You can tell, even in talking to players that are playing right now, even guys that played with my brother, they have really bought in to what coach Jones has brought to the program," Anderson said. "It's not just another coach to them. It's something that they are buying into and they are working to try and be national champions. I know every program is trying to do that, but they are bought in and excited and I like that aspect of what they're doing."

"I really, honestly wasn't sure at first because I hadn't met any of the coaches at first and I didn't really get to talk to them, but the first time I really saw the change was in the spring of last year and I went up to a practice and I got to see how happy the players were even though they were working hard and sweating," Anderson said. "They were just enjoying football, which is what you're supposed to do. They were enjoying old Tennessee football. I could tell last spring everyone was buying in."

He talked about Duke (where he visited last weekend) and LSU, likes both. Been to LSU 2-3 times and really likes Chavis. Said he wants to pick a school that would make him happy even if football doesn't work out, getting advice from those around him, wants to decide before his senior season. Keaton also said he would like to play with Dee Smith at the next level, the two of them are very close friends, but it's not a deal breaker.

Racist? possibly? how could you be unimpressed without having even watched his film?

unimpressed by what? pictures? haha

Was wondering the same exact thing.

Edit: I see that's exactly what he meant lol. I can see it the thoughts forging in his head now. 'A white guy with long hair, can't be any good....pass'.

Sounds nice, and it is your opinion, as you stated, but I don't think so.

Whether a player's parent played or not makes no difference when they are under the bar in the weight room, pushing through two-a-days, learning the playbook, and ultimately landing on the field on Saturdays.

Natural ability, preparation, and mental strength, 100%

IMO

:hi:

+1. I definitely wouldn't say being a legacy is automatically worth another star (not specifically talking about anyone, just in general). Some high 3-stars are really good prospects and others arent.

No, not automatically, of course. For example, you might have a legacy that for whatever reason could care less about Tennessee football---perhaps his dad or uncle or whatever didn't have a good experience on Rocky Top. And, yes I agree, not all 3-stars are created equal. As CBJ says we are looking for guys that fit our "recruiting profile" regardless of his star-rating with the recruting services.

But you gentleman seem to be saying that being a legacy makes no difference, that he has no additional value as a prospect. I disagree. In general, if a legacy has a reaonable level of talent:

1) There is greater chance he will bring, initially at least, a greater level of enthusiasm and emotional energy to the team.

2) There is a greater chance that he will add to the closeness--the feeling of family--of the team.

3) He has a greater chance of having been "coached up" technically, etc. by his VFL dad or uncle or whatever.

Would it be an upset if we didn't sign this guy?

"It would be an upset, yes. But, Alabama and now LSU are going to come after him and he's very interested. It helps that Tennessee has offered and is recruiting his friend and teammate Dee Smith."

How does he compare to the other LBs we just signed?

"I don't know that he's a great player, but I think he's a solid linebacker. Moves well, decent size, he's heady and has good instincts. On film, he looks like he's always around the ball which is what you want to see out of a linebacker and he also lines up at safety some which shows you he has some athleticism to his game."

@AndrewJBone: #Miami has been busy in Alabama the last 24 hours. Florence LB Keaton Anderson adds a new offer from the Canes.

Picked up his 12th CB prediction to UT today. Also got his 1st non UT prediction, to duke. Keaton is one I'm curious how it plays out with him being a legacy.

"The Vol legacy will be camping at the Rivals Camp Series Birmingham stop for the second year in a row after standing out as an underclassman at last year's camp.

Anderson's stock has been trending up as of last as he added an LSU offer recently and now has 12 offers including the Tigers, Alabama and Tennessee. He'll be matched up against some top-quality running backs as numerous four-star running backs will be in attendance."

Rivals Interview with Farrell..... He's visited Bama, UT, and Duke within the past month. His parents made the visit with him to UA. His HS teammates accompanied him on his visit to UT. Spoke highly of Duke's academic prestige. Plans to take his OV's then decide. Said if Oregon or FSU offered, it could change some things.

Top 5 (in no order)

1. Bama
2. UT
3. LSU
4. Duke
5. Miami

"Keaton Anderson surprised me some with his speed. He was on guy's hips all day and really no one got much separation and even though he didn't win LB MVP he was one if the top two or three linebackers there."

Would love to see UT get him. Always like it when legacy recruits decide on the Orange. Just not sure it's going to work out.
