'15 AL OL Brandon Kennedy

Yeah...I get it. Somebody wrote it. Doesn’t change the procedure. I think he has two seasons of eligibility.

According to the SBNation article (below), it appears that you, Laager & Bruin (los tres amigos) are correct that Kennedy only has 2 years of eligibility left due to the NCAA 5-year clock. A potential 3rd year of eligibility left would require an unlikely NCAA waiver. It doesn't seems too likely he'll need to apply for such a waiver anyway.

In Brandon Kennedy transfer saga, Alabama and the SEC should let him go - SBNation.com

"Here’s what Kennedy’s first five years in college would look like if the SEC made him sit:

2015: Redshirted as a true freshman
2016: Played as a redshirt freshman
2017: Was injured as redshirt sophomore, received medical redshirt
2018: Sat out as a redshirt sophomore at Auburn or Tennessee
2019: Played as a redshirt sophomore at his new school

The NCAA only extends the five-year clock if circumstances beyond the player’s control — like an injury — cost him more than one season of competition. The rules are explicit that redshirt years and “years in residence” after transferring do not pause a player’s five-year clock. The NCAA can always grant waivers for more, but there’s no guarantee."

Liked for appropriate use of three amigos. :lolabove:

Yep it's the first year that's key. It had to be an injury that led to his redshirt and I haven't seen anything saying that Happened. Bama would have to suppprt that and if they haven't already that seems very unlikely

I am sure That's right and I am sure I am
Guilty of that at times. However I can't even state a simple easily interpreted rule like in this thread yesterday without the trolling talk. Many times we can have great discussion if we just start off with clean slates. Hell even 88 and I have had good talks lately

That’s fair.

Why would he sit out in 2018?

I missed the part where he said "if they make him sit".

I don't know where he will play, but I highly doubt he sits out at Auburn or Tennessee.

He’s going ahead and projecting that Saban will get his way. Which is wrong.

You guys have dug your way to China and back again discussing this and we still don't know anything. Congrats?

You say we don't know anything, others say we lack answers, and others think we're wandering in the wilderness lost and clueless.

I wish I could help...

The final nail in the coffin holding my reputation on this board. sheesh.

But I agree. it's just discussion. it's why I'm here. to discuss.

and prevent sarge from becoming mod.

This is the glue holding VN together IMO. The fact that D4H thinks Sarge has tons of NFL Mod potential is the clencher.

We know it's a long ******* way to China and back when all you've got is a garden spade. :thud:

Because TS and his boy toy Saban want him to.
Nope. Saban just doesn't like UT and AU inviting him to come there and play against the school that educated, supported and developed him as a FB player and against his brothers that he's leaving at UA. That's all.

Saban doesn't want him to sit. Nor do I. And he won't have to sit if he transfers to a non-SEC school or any other school that's not on UAs schedule for the next two seasons.

There you go again with that tilted view that Kennedy owes something to the Gumps. He’s fulfilled his degree, you don’t like it, get over it.

You have entirely too much time on your hands.

I didn't say nor is it my view that he owes anything to the Gumps. You have erroneously imagined that.

...a school invests a lot of $ and time in developing a player...

...they spent 3-4 years and lots of $s educating and developing...

...UA is not in favor of the NCAA being able to force it to develop players for UT and AU...

...UA developing players and them being poached by UT and/or AU when they are reaching their prime doesn't sit real well with me...

...Saban just doesn't like UT and AU inviting him to come there and play against the school that educated, supported and developed him as a FB player and against his brothers that he's leaving...

Your words, dude. Sure sounds like you want a greater return on your "investment."

So when do the Grand Poobahs of Hooly-Booly-Bolly hand down their decision on Kennedy's waiver?
