S.Jones is currently #3 on UT's QB Recruiting Board per VolQuest.com.

Sheriron Jones QB, 6-2/189, Moreno Valley, Calif.

Tennessee became the second SEC school to offer Jones recently after offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian evaluated the quarterback several times this spring. Jones has now said he'll visit Knoxville the weekend of June 6, when the Vols will host a quarterback camp as well as Monday Night Football analyst, and friend of Butch Jones, John Gruden.

Some comments from Jones at the recent Nor Cal Elite 11 event.

"I was going to commit right after my first game senior year, but depending on how many more dudes commit, I might have to do it a little bit earlier, just to make sure I have my spot."

Jones said he doesn't have a leader -- all his offers are tied as his No. 1 school at this point -- and he is still in the process of allowing coaches to evaluate him during the spring and take the film back to the head coach. During January's Elite 11 regional event in Southern California, Jones was coolly playing the recruiting process. But now, with the sped up pace of quarterback recruiting, it's getting interesting.

"It's starting to cook up a little bit, but I'm still going with my pace," he said. "Some schools are saying they'll take my commitment even if I don't get out to the school on a visit to see the campus and facilities."

Those close to Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde four-star quarterback*Sheriron Jones*continue to indicate that Florida is the school to beat heading into the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder’s visits to Tennessee and Florida next weekend. The plan currently being discussed now is for Jones to make his pledge to the Gators face-to-face with head coach Will Muschamp.

There is a little concern on Florida’s part with that visit to Tennessee prior to his stop in Gainesville. The Vols’ facilities are better than what UF have to offer, and their depth at the quarterback position is also more appealing than what the Gators have to offer with Will Grier and Treon Harris signing in 2014. The staff is fully aware a sound visit is needed to be sure Jones makes the call for UF.

We hear that Muschamp has been thoroughly impressed with Jones’ personality during their phone conversations and he believes being a leader at a top flight program in the premier conference will not be an issue for him. That is on top of his physical tools, which they believe fit Kurt Roper’s offense perfectly-GatorBait 247

Jones said he hasn’t “really” identified any favorites heading into the trip, but he admitted he’s intrigued by both Tennessee and Florida.

“The quarterback coach (at Tennessee), Coach ‘Jake’ (offensive coordinator*Mike Bajakian), he’s a real good dude,” said Jones, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 130 overall prospect and No. 5 dual-threat quarterback in the 2015 class.

“He really likes me. He likes the way I throw and everything, and he just made me feel a good vibe from him and everything, so I wanted to take a chance and just go down there to Tennessee and see what it’s really all about.”

The 6-foot-3, 192-pound Jones,*who also added an offer from Maryland last week,*said he’s interested in Florida because of “just the program and everything that they’re going through right now.”

“I mean, I would want to be one of the people that bring them out of the slump and stuff like that,” Jones said. “(Florida coach*Will)*Muschamp*has been doing a great job and everything, and I know he’s going through some tough times, so he needs somebody that’s really going to be there for him and make sure the team does what they have to do.

“And*Butch Jones*from Tennessee, he’s a great dude. When I first talked to him and he offered me, the first thing he said was, ‘Name a college that has the head coach and the quarterback with the same last name.’

“He was just a good guy over the phone and everything, so I’m looking forward to meeting him and meeting Muschamp.”

Sheriron Jones*said the Vols have told him about their favorable depth chart — particularly after*Butch Jonesannounced Tuesday that redshirt freshman quarterbackRiley Ferguson*is likely to leave the program*—*but he insisted that early playing time is “not really a big deal to me.”

“I actually talked to Coach ‘Jake’ (on Thursday),”*Sheriron Jones*said. “He (said) they didn’t take a quarterback this past class, and with (Ferguson) leaving, that’s two classes that they’re missing (a quarterback).”

Jones said he once had hoped to announce his college choice after the first game of his senior season, but he’s now not sure when he might make his decision.

“I’m just trying to go down there and see (Tennessee) and everything, go down there and see Florida and try to see the rest of the schools. But depending on how many more people commit or how I feel about each one of these schools that I visit, I really don’t know,” said Jones, who only has been to Arizona State, Colorado, USC and UCLA to this point.

“With some of these dudes that are out there making sure they’ve got their spots and stuff, I just have to see. I’ve just got to go down there and see the schools and everything and see what happens.

Interesting that Maryland just offered him. Maybe Locksley's son is going to end up at Auburn and not playing for dad.

.

So how many times has CBJ used this line on different players? :)

Comparatively, malzahn, muschamp, and even saban sound like endangered species...with CBJ at Tennessee, maybe they are :)

Why would FSU want Locksley over Francois?

Accuracy. francois has a big arm and quick release but struggles with touch accuracy. It nothing to be alarmed about since its fixable but it just the reason FSU prefers Locksley and FLA prefers Jones in their very close comparisons. Both schools would full court press Francois if they miss out in they preference

FSU like Francois but Locksley is slightly ahead. Those are the only two QBs they are recruiting and it could be who jumps first but Chris Nee and Josh Newberg of the FSU 247 site have both adamantly said Locksley would get the nod if they both tried to commit at same time.

I thought Francois was #1 on the uf board.

I thought Francois was #1 on the uf board.

He was heading into Spring evals. ITG and 247 say Roper didnt like what he saw during visit. An insider said Muschamp told Roper to move on after DF no showed for visit to spring game.

Although I certainly see how Dormady could blow up his SR. season. You have to account that you are comparing JR to SO film. He's mobile and makes some solid throws. If we take 2 QB I'd love for Dormady to be one of those due to his true dual threat quality.
