'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Dobbs' passing could use some improvement, but I think he looked pretty solid yesterday. That long incomplete pass to Pig was a great ball. Granted, he led him just a little too far, but if it had been one of our taller receivers, it would have been a TD. And the pass to Von for a TD was impressive as well, IMO.

Either way, hope to have SJ in orange. Go Vols!

The INT Dobbs threw was a standard Dobbs high heat fastball. The pig pass Dobbs over threw one our fastest recievers which was wide ass open. Dobbs has work to do this off season, and more talent at QB to assist the growth is needed.

Such a stupid thing to say. There will be a QB competition. A competition that nobody knows who will win. Not even Jones or Bajakian. There is tons of physical and mental development that they will go through once they get on campus. How much each one will or will not develop will be seen.

It's stupid to discuss our QB situation for next year? Let's go ahead and shut down the message board.

Pearson should have caught that pass and the Howard throw was a fraction off; he played a great game

I think if he does in fact commit to us then i think we'll move jennings to another position, Jones just looks smoother at quarterback than jennings. I think the quarterback competition this spring is going to be much tighter than most expect, i wouldnt chalk dobbs up for being opening starter just yet. CBJ is going to put the best product on the field. I think this guy may have a better arm then dobbs and about the same legs as dobbs. Dormady on the other hand has a better arm than both but the legs not so much. Dormady reminds me alot of bray and thats definitely not a bad thing. GO VOLS

I would just about bet the farm that Butch will start Dobbs next year--unless he's injured. I doubt he will start a freshman with a healthy Dobbs. That's not saying a freshman QB will not play next year though.

It hit Pearson's hands. That's on him.

And I wouldn't expect his deep ball to be accurate, because they only dial it up once a game.

Well in October we had no idea if we would have a good QB for 2015 and Dobbs stepped up. Hoping for another progress jump and improvements in accuracy.

I like how they said Dobbs wasn't spectacular yesterday but he was efficient. That's all we really need him to be, to run our offense effectively and efficiently. Then if and when we need him, he can be spectacular

Doubt it. Driskel is an upperclassman with a proven deficiency at playing football. Jones would probably have ended up ahead of him regardless on the depth chart.

Rumor is that he's headed to Duke...good move if true...if you can be salvaged, Cut'll do it.

Agreed. He hasn't shown much promise outside of playing not-horribly his sophomore year, but he wasn't in the best situation at UF either. If he does end up at Duke, I would really be interested in seeing how well he can play in a more QB-friendly environment with one of the best QB developers as his HC.

Either Dobbs significantly improves as a downfield passer before next fall or some of you are going to be really disappointed. He's added and extra dimension to our offense, but he's badly missed wide open recievers in every game he's played. Blair and Dobbs developing are the two biggest keys to our offense next season.

They only took one shot downfield yesterday and it was a very well thrown ball. Just a little more air...

IMHO, the lack of deep ball success has more to do with the OL's inability to hold the pocket than the ability of either Worley or Dobbs to make the throws.

You are right about the other part. The key to '15 is the OL and particularly the LT position.

In the 1st quarter he overthrew Pig, IIRC, on a 10 yard slant by about 5 yards. He put another pass on an identical route behind Pig.

When I say downfield, I mean anything other than the little swing and screen passes Dobbs throws 90% of the time.

I think the coaches have limited any kind of downfield passing in part because of WR injuries but also because of Dobbs' inconsistency throwing the ball.

Dude.....Dobbs will be the starter....lmao...gimme a break.

He will be but we haven't had a QB be healthy a full season very often the last 8-10 yrs and in Butch's two yrs we have been down to fourth QB one yr and Third this yr. And as reckless as Dobbs is with his body we need immediate help behind him.

Agree 100%..If anyone can honestly say they have full confidence in Dobbs they are lying. One minute he looks like a Heisman candidate and other times looked worse than AJ Suggs running the offense. His accuracy and decision making will be the biggest areas he has to improve on to get us to where we wanna be!

Also that INT that Dobbs threw yesterday hit Pearson right in the hands. Funny how some of yall overlook that. Funny how no QB on here is good enough for some.
