'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Also that INT that Dobbs threw yesterday hit Pearson right in the hands. Funny how some of yall overlook that. Funny how no QB on here is good enough for some.

Dobbs isn't very good throwing past 10 yard. It is what it is. He's still a good QB over all though.

Ok I understand Dobbs threw a pick yesterday. Just look at the replay it should've been caught. Dobbs made a great back shoulder throw to Von for a nice TD, but all y'all talk about is the few questionable throws he makes. Dobbs reminds me a lot of Auburns nick Marshall. He's deadly when he runs and some games he lights you up with his arm and his legs. Just gotta trust in the off season progression he will make, because he wasn't even supposed to play this season. 16-21 sounds pretty accurate, and I do believe Dobbs will be out clear cut starter next season. Sheriron Jones has a lot of talent, but the fact that he won't be an early enrollee hurts him somewhat.

12 of his completions were wr bubbles/screens... Not knocking him, he's just not polished down the field. Seems as if his timing is off with the wr's. He had one really deep throw that was close and should hit in the future. I have no doubt Dobbs knows his weaknesses better than we do and also have no doubt he'll work his ass off to fix them.

Oh no doubt! I'm just saying that he will and should fix those issues in the off season. I really do think he'll be a damn good quarterback for us the next two seasons.

Agree 100%..If anyone can honestly say they have full confidence in Dobbs they are lying. One minute he looks like a Heisman candidate and other times looked worse than AJ Suggs running the offense. His accuracy and decision making will be the biggest areas he has to improve on to get us to where we wanna be!

Dobbs was a huge reason we even made a bowl game. Anyone can see that. Why don't you talk about all the things he does well? You guys are over exaggerating. He has what it takes. He is only a sophomore. He will get better and you guys will still complain. BTW I have confidence in Dobbs and I'm not lying.

Either Dobbs significantly improves as a downfield passer before next fall or some of you are going to be really disappointed. He's added and extra dimension to our offense, but he's badly missed wide open recievers in every game he's played. Blair and Dobbs developing are the two biggest keys to our offense next season.
Newsflash...so did Worley. In every game. You'd be hard pressed to find a QB on any team that doesn't miss on a few each game. Now step off Dobb's jimmies. He is probably the single biggest contributor to our team's resurgence...and yet you still want to trash him.

Dobbs' passing could use some improvement, but I think he looked pretty solid yesterday. That long incomplete pass to Pig was a great ball. Granted, he led him just a little too far, but if it had been one of our taller receivers, it would have been a TD. And the pass to Von for a TD was impressive as well, IMO.

Either way, hope to have SJ in orange. Go Vols!
I was thinking the very same thing, the second he missed. I was like "why in the hell didn't Bajakian put Von or Malone out there on that play?" Why to we throw deep fade patterns to midget WR's? They are good at the short to intermediate stuff, but you're making a low percentage call by using short WR's out on the edges like that.

And why we don't gash teams down the middle seam with our TE, Wolfe, I'll never understand. It was highly effective earlier in the year, but Bajakian totally got away from it the last 3-4 games.

It looked like Dobbs has been working on his throwing motion during bowl prep. He looked a lot more like a passer instead of a thrower. During the season, it looked strange. He appeared to be guiding the pass or shot putting the throw. There was one 25 yd or so pass he made across the field in the bowl that was very sound in his delivery.imo. After I saw that I didn't really rewind the pass plays to look at his mechanics anymore, plus I was celebrating too much, lol.

I'm amazed that speculation on a Vol players performance is frowned upon up in here. Theres always room for improvement, and the coaches stay in his ass about his accuracy issues and bring it up anytime the media asks about it. He's a 7-10 passing guy that needs to be a 10-10 passing guy, and that's straight from CBJs mouth.

If the coaches can speculate and critiscize then why can't we? Isn't this the purpose of this board as long as the convo stays on track?

Gimmie a break.

Edit: you people that would rather coddle these kids are the problem with kids these days, way to damn sensitive. "Oh poor baby they signed up to play football in the SEC but let's not talk about when they don't do well because it will hurt their feelings."

Still yet, give me a break.

The play calling doesn't attack downfield.

He would be more accurate if we tried to get him in a rhythm past shorter throws.

Bingo. I was whining for the same thing with Worley. Get the guy in rhythm with 8-10 yard passes between the hashes. The simple play in passing - a slant now and again would do wonders along with hitches and crossing routes.

Dobbs is executing the offense he is given. For a guy that has not yet started a full season worth of games he is doing an outstanding job. As Breaker has said, watch how Tom Herman calls a game for OSU. Similar offense. That's what needs to happen. Dobbs will only get better from here. He is a natural leader.

Jones needs to be a Vol. I see a lot to like with him. RS and get ready to compete for the job.

Back to Sheriron Jones.....

If Peterman truly is transferring, I think you take this kid all day. Tell Kendall he's our only QB take in 2016, unless someone else transfers. We need 4 QB on scholarship so we can avoid starting freshmen in the future. Redshirt 2 of them and let the other one mop up when we get leads, whoever is the best of the 3 next year. Then, redshirt Kendall during Dobb's senior year. After that you have several seasoned QBs and one or two may transfer if they don't cut it.

I guess because that is their profession. Your profession is something else. We should do someone's taxes or unclog a toilet or something.

Of course everyone is entitled to share their opinions... But it isn't worth anything and doesn't solve any problems, imo

So far under CBJ we haven't had a season where we only needed 2 QB's, much less just 1.

Soooo Lemme get this straight.. Share opinions, but only if they are solving problems? Is that what you're saying?

I did find it interesting that Gibson will apparently be the sixth scholarship QB for Ohio State next year. At least that was discussed during game today. We could take four ourselves just to get there. So Jennings at QB is not unlikely.

Because people like yourself constantly do nothing but ride his arse and rag on him. Just a little news nugget for you....not even Tom Brady or Peyton Manning are a 10 for 10 kind of guy. Get over it. If Dobbs is anywhere near 70% on his completion percentage, he's a damn good QB. He was better than that yesterday...so time to step off his nutz.

Dobbs may not be an NFL guy or even a Heisman guy, but he very well could be. I think he comes back next year much better prepared mentally. He strikes me as a mature player who doesn't need to be told by the coaches that next year's team will go as far as he takes them. It sucks to put that much pressure on one player but that is the life of a QB. Knock has always been he is a poor practice player, but I suspect he will accept this challenge and clean that up.
