'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Just hope that the coaches are not about to do something silly.

Griffin was considered the S for the class till just recently. Then the talk of OLB came in. Word was UT wanted to take at least 1 S this year.

If I am JJ and or his parents, I am REALLY watching this play out and as of now I don't like it at all.

IMO there is absolutely no reason to be visiting with another QB recruit. Neither QD or JJ have given any indication of wavering. Both are set to be EEs.

Do UT's coaches try and pull a fast one? Wait till both committed guys are on campus then take a 3rd?

Let The Debate!

Could be nothing Callahan on 247 the other day had not heard about any in home visit being scheduled. He thinks The kid may have reached out to us to gauge our interest if he opened things up but that we may have passed. He was going to check into it further.

Hope that is the case. QD & JJ have done everything right IMO. I see no reason at all for the coaches to rock the boat. Even a harmless visit can cause problems.

In the SEC, we have to have at least 4 quality QBs to carry the workload. Take as many as we can get. Quality 4* depth at QB all the way thru career benchwarmer is a must!!!

:) I kid I kid.

I know this, when nearly to a man RF posters wonder if we might be getting greedy at a spot, then we are there. Normally everyone is like no worries all good. Take them all.

I agree and I don't think there is any reason to be concerned at this point. I see no way Jones signs with UT and Dormady and Jennings will be brought in very soon.

Considering the job Jones and staff have done on the trail so far at UT, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Seems pretty clear to me that they know what they're doing.

Every QB signed doesn't always measure up. Joey Mathews, Rattay, Brandon Stewart, B.J Coleman, Nick Stephens, Brent Schaeffer, Nick Lamison (sp), Nance Nash, CJ Leak and the infamous Jim Bob Cooter are some who come to mind that didn't stack up. Recruit and take those who will come because they aren't afraid of competition. The QB situation ALWAYS works itself out. See Riley Ferguson.

Hopefully it's just a recruit taking a conversation the wrong way. If UT's coaches actually go visit him, IMO JJ especially should have a huge issue with it.

QD is fine with JJ in the class at QB with him. JJ is fine with it as it is as well. IMO you don't mess with that. UT gets greedy and next thing you know they MAY end up with Jones for 2015 and QD & JJ go elsewhere.

My favorite JBC moment came prior to Fulmers last season, Jr attended his camp. He was a little guy. They were doing a drill where the kids lined up as a RB and dive over a dummy into the endzone. Jr gets in a 3 point stance, ball snapped, Jr dives, out of nowhere comes JBC with a blocking pad and DESTROYS Jr in mid air.

I laughed so hard I cried.

Lol, great story.

You keep pushing this and I'm gonna put any QB decommit squarely on your shoulders. There was only one little comment made that the coaches may visit and you're all the sudden pushing that JJ or QD should explore their options.

Agree as to what you are saying, but you should not have included Branndon Stewart in your list. He transferred from Tennessee to Texas A&M where he was 23-11 as a starter, led the Aggies to their first ever Big 12 Conference Championship and their first ever BCS Bowl game. Not too shabby. He just did not want to sit behind Peyton Manning for 3 years.

Stewart is the epitome of what can happen when you sign more than 1 highly recruited QB in the same class. Instead of hanging around as a backup for 3 years, he transferred to another school where he could start.

IF...IF....UT's coaches have anything to do with another 2015 HS QB, I could not blame the committed guys for bailing at all. You want to put that on me? Alright. Both guys have done everything right. Both guys are set to be EE's. Why not just let it play and get the guys you wanted to start with? JMO

I'm halfway joking, but halfway serious. The rampant speculation could lead a recruit (who may be reading this) to question and distrust the staff without real cause. You don't know the staff is involved with Jones, so its somewhat irresponsible to keep pushing this conspiracy. Leave that to another SEC school.

It's a recruiting message board. Some things will be all positive and great, other things will not. There will always be both sides to the equation. If it's cool to report, discuss, and speculate about the positive stuff, obviously it's alright to do the same with the stuff that's not 100% slanted toward a sugarcoated fantasy Vol land.

Wickman posted something saying Jones said UT coaches would be visiting him in his home. Now if you have something to show that is not the case, I'd be glad to read it. Obviously I would much prefer it play out that way. We'll see what happens. :good!:

Pretty much Callahan shot this down for the time being also. I could see CBJ keeping communications open with Sheriron until both Jennings and Dormady are in as EE though. I think at the end of the day Jennings and Dormady are QBs at UT and S Jones ends up elsewhere. I don't see CBJ intentionally misleading our recruits and I don't see us having the room for another QB.

I'll just say it might be more prudent to wait till Fort, Hubbs, Callahan, someone of that ilk drops that bomb to begin the speculation.

Of course its a free recruiting message board and you're free to discuss any scenario you want. And I'm free to tell you to zip it. :)

If I'm told to zip it, I'm checking my fly. :birgits_giggle:
