'15 DE GA Andrew Butcher (UT Commit 6/8/13)

"I train four times a week in the morning at my high school and three times a week after school at Competitive Edge Sports, and once a week I'm doing yoga," said the Alpharetta, Ga., standout who committed to the Vols in early June. "My first get-off step, I'm training with former Tennessee Vol Constantin Ritzmann on that. He's taught me to pass rush a lot better. And I'm going to try to improve my weight and speed; I'm 240 now and I'd like to get to 255 or 260 by next season and get my 40 below 4.75."

Butcher closed the year with 79 tackles, 25 of them behind foes' lines of scrimmage, and 13 sacks as well as eight forced fumbles and a blocked kick. His five-sack single-game outburst was the best individual performance in Alpharetta High School history and he's now the career sack leader with 20 notched and still a season to play.

"It's very motivating. Because we want to be the best," Butcher said. "We want to be the teams that are playing in SEC Championships in a couple years. The only way to do that is with the best talent and hard work."

"Just from visits, we've all got close and hang out when we're up there," Butcher said. "Me and Jack hung out and went to the lake together for a weekend in the summer. All the other people get to know each other and their families."

This kid could come in and be physically developed and talented enough to contribute day 1 in the SEC. Let that sink in.

Love the family atmosphere that is being established with all of our recruits/players now. No one wants to disappoint their family. Makes me think this team is going to "work like heck" to get back to the Tennessee of old. At least that's the way I'm going to think of it with my orange shades on.

Could not love this more.

1/3 of his tackles were for losses.

Holy crap. This kid had 79 tackles as a DE. That seems crazily high IMO. That's a lot of tackles for that position

Sure does. Love the kids attitude. Nobody is going to outwork him that is for sure. And not just that but the kid has big-time talent on top of it.

He's a bit of a smaller guy and has apparently taken a lot of flak over it. Plays with a massive chip on his shoulder as a result. Gets where he's going quickly and in a bad mood. Can't wait to watch him ball out here.

Butcher is 6'3" 240 and squats 500 lbs and is only a junior in HS. Not sure he's getting alot of flak over his size.

He was talking about it on Twitter one day. I don't often pay attention to what the kids write on there, but I noticed that. Might have been a past thing where he's just now coming into his frame.

okay gotcha that makes sense. Love to have Butcher at DE and Brant Mitchell at lb for the 2015 class. High character high motor guys that will bust heads.

I don't know about that but he is definitely going to be ahead of the curve from a training standpoint.

I'm not saying he'll be a starter, but he should be along physically enough to work his way into the rotation a la Corey Vereen

Edit: Unless all the new guys we bring in lock themselves into paying time early that is.

This kid is going to be a stud at UT. His motor never stops and the determination he has will only lead to success for him. You can tell from his film that he has the mentality we have been lacking here for a few years now. His goal every snap is to rip someones head off. I love it!
