'15 DE GA Andrew Butcher (UT Commit 6/8/13)

You can google the results. That's laser timed at about 8 am, and most times were much slower than what the kids were used to. As a comparison, last year Dewayne Hendrix ran a 5.07. Nobody seems to be talking about that anymore. Andrew ran a very good pro shuttle, and benched 33 reps of 185....best of the combine by 4 reps. Also dominated in 1on 1's. We were very happy with his performance there. People get so caught up in the measurables. Just put on the film, and see if a kid can play.....hard to put a number on that!

Trust me, no one here is questioning Andrew's offer/commitment. He will be one of the biggest gets in the 2015 class for Tennessee. No doubt in my mind.

This, this, and some more of this!

I think uga will soon start to realize what we did long ago; that there is a beastly DE prospect in their own backyard. They will likely pull out all stops as Andrew continues to gain steam. I could see them having David Pollack call/visit to recruit him to uga. It makes sense. His style of play and athleticism are similar to pollack's back in the day.

My hope is that Andrew holds to his commitment to UT and provides us a lynchpin for our defense in Knoxville. This kid is one of my favorite members of the '15 class. I love seeing him post those pics of offers from other schools down his toilet on twitter for other prospects to see. Keep those pics coming, Butcher!

UGA has beastly DEs scattered all over their back yard. Not discrediting AButcher at all, kids a stud and will be a top 100 player IMO. However, GA has plenty of talent to go around and I like our chances recruiting that state. Georgia players have helped UT bigtime over the years.

I am one who hates comparisons to great players for high school kids but he really reminds me a lot of JJ Watt mainly with his technique and always being in position. Kid has great leverage and will be a stud.

He and his family are not very fond of UGA. His Dad played at Clemson and the rest of his family are associated with Tennessee with at least, his grandfather playing football at Tennessee. This monster is Tennessee all the way and Georgia will not even get a sniff.

Butcher, Cherry and Williams are all going to be BEAST at UT. This is the type of talent you win NC's with.

+1. They've already got 4 elite caliber prospects in the fold for '15 IMO with Butcher, Jones, Cherry and Williams.

I'm also a big fan of Zach Stewart. He has very good feet and appears to be very athletic and explosive for a kid of his size. I wont be surprised at all if he blows up at some of these combines.

Kid here is nasty. Violent hands are the name of his game. He also closes well and is violent when he gets there(I like violent players if you didn't know :)). Very glad to have him onboard.

Now that the brick by brick class is gathered and the foundation is set, are we now onto the framing stage?

Stud by Stud?

I'm on board with this slogan. Continuation of the building theme, but new, fresh, and definitely takes us where we need to go. Not to mention, it's pretty witty too.

Agreed. The 2015 class is off to a great start with legit SEC talent.

Thanks for the info, sir. Come around more often, we'd be glad to have you.

Official US Army National Combine results for Butcher
* Jersey number: 355
* Height & weight: 6-2, 243.5
* Bench reps: 33
* Vertical jump: 28.5"
* 40: 5.27
* Shuttle: 4.64

Hand times were originally provided for participants before their electronic times were posted, and I believe that's where Butcher's reported 40 time of 5.01 came from.

Interesting to see the difference in some of the hand vs. electronic times. For instance, Barton Simmons reported, "Got our first hand times sub 4.3. Marcus Taylor out of Virginia had 4.30 and 4.28 on his two clocks last run." Taylor's electronic times, however, were 4.69 and 4.70.

FWIW, the best electronic 40 time at the combine was a 4.61 (Texas A&M commit Jay Bradford) and Taylor was the only other player under 4.70.

40 times are always so inflated. The perception from the average fan is that if you don't run a 4.4 40 you're slow. Very small % of HS and CFB players actually run a 4.40 or better.
