A guy on 247 asked what prevented butcher from being rated higher considering he is racking up offers from the elite ( latest is ND). Here was Barton Simmons' response....

"He's an 89 as a 6-2 DL so yes, I feel pretty safe in saying if he was 6-4 he'd be a four-star.

Ppl get hung up on 4-stars vs 3-stars. There are so many players out there that we think are really really good that are three-stars. If we ranked every kid with good highlight film a 4-star there'd be 800 four-stars. 89 is a really good ranking."

What a defensive smarta$&. I get sick of these analysts getting so defensive after a simple question. And really? If he were taller he'd be rated higher? Oh really...

Lol if you didn't already know, those analyst are jokes and that is a pretty funny excuse.

While his premise is right that you can't have 800 4*, there is no doubt Butcher should be one of them. Dude is the best DE in Georgia.

I don't like him at all...or many of the recruiting analyst for that matter...that's why I don't buy a subscription.... I look at the players offer list, and base my judgement from that...

I guess someone should tell them that Cece Jefferson was accidentally scored as a 98 and labeled a 5 star DE while being under 6'4. We can't have 800 five stars, either. I'm sure they'll change that right away.

Yeah, nevermind the fact that he crushed the all star game. Nevermind the fact that he's one of the best players in one of the most talent-rich states in the nation. Nevermind that he's as strong as an ox, and has plenty of speed. Nevermind the fact that the best college football programs want him to play for them. He lacks a vital inch or two that apparently is preventing him from being an elite player. Good gosh some of these justifications are just infuriating because of how freaking stupid they are.

He's coming in this weekend I think... So yeah, they took something out of context and picked something that will for sure create a buzz... Anything TN related... The sure fire way to drive traffic to a website

I just spoke with Butcher, who said he was still "solid as of right now," but may take visits this summer/fall.

Anna: As of right now are you still pretty solid to Tennessee?
Butcher: Yep.
Anna: Are other schools wanting you to visit?
Butcher: Yeah.
Anna: Do you plan on making any trips?
Butcher: Maybe some camps.

Yep...TN is hot right now. Any and all of these writers are grasping at any minute detail and running with it. If they can get a UT recruit to say anything like this that's gold to them. Doesn't worry me in the least. Errbody gunning for us and our commits. I like it...

If they rated everyone with his highlight film and offer list a 4*, there would be exactly the right amount of 4*s
