'15 FL DE Marques Ford (FORMER UT commit)

Tough for the kid if we said hit the road.

But this is a business and when you are competing at the top these things happen - not just at UT.

I have no problems with it. It happens and will happen both ways for UT.

This is recruiting.

Sometimes kids flip on us as well and we get all mad and upset and call them names ect. It is a dirty business and we have plenty of guys that could go somewhere else and leave UT at the alter. We should not get upset with them or UT. Everyone is just doing what they have to do. UT for UT and Player X for player X.

There is a huge difference and the I'd say the thing preventing you from seeing it is orange colored or Butch colored glasses. I swear this guy could piss on y'alls head, tell you it's raining, and you'd believe it.

A 17 or 18 year old making one of the biggest decisions in their lives, having a change of heart is one thing. An institution and/or professionally paid coach playing roulette with the life of a student athlete is another.

You can't tell me that this was a spur of the moment decision. This has been in the works for a while. They played this kid. I don't want to here, 'everyone does it.' That is moral relativism. Everyone doing something doesn't make it right. I hope it bites them in the ass.

Not a true VFL IMO, I hate it for the kid I really do, but this coach doesn't have that long of a leash cause of fans like yourself, so he has to do whatever he has to do to get the job done NOW! If he don't win now y'all want him fired if he does something to better this team but ya don't agree with it he SUKS and has bad morals..... I sure as hell am glad I ain't the coach!

Not a Vol fan?

I was born at Ft. Sanders while both my parents were students at UT. My Papaw was personal friends with Gus Manning and got our family season tickets which we held from the 70s until about 6 years ago. I'm a 96 grad and have been to bowl games, road games, and spring games. You don't know what you're talking about.

Whatever. If you want to appear to be a Vol fan, then perhaps you should act like one. At least occasionally.

I'm willing to debate the long snapper scholarship, but every team in the nation gives scholarships to punters. A strong punter is vital.

from what I hear from people who have watched him, he could end up being a Ray Guy type game changer and if so, he is more valuable than Ford would be with the haul of other DE's we have.

Without a doubt. Makes zero sense to pull a 4* DE's offer and still give one to an LS that you could get as a walk on.

Yet he had scholly offers at other places and we lost the one we wanted last year to OK because we were trying to get him to walk on. UT about to beat Florida with a 25 yard chip shot FG and bad slow snap and the kick is BLOCKED but we loved the sack on 3 and 12 we got in the second quarter earlier in the game.

a few million coming my way regardless of how well I do..............can't agree with that last sentence and neither would Dooley

Yeah he rushed that. Couple SEC schools were trying to get him on campus this weekend.

Wasn't he committed to Rutgers originally before Vols? By the way, what's up Hialeah! Haven't seen you in a bit since I transferred and moved from Doral up to Georgia. Same ole same ole in MIA? I need to get down there soon to see my daughter and friends. What happen to MiamiCane, is he still on here?

Glad to see you posting still.

How is Ga? Thinking about that move as well. My wife is up for a job promotion in April.

MC doesn't post much here these days. I see him on another site for the Florida schools tho.

Act like a Vol fan?
Is there an instruction manual?
Can you put that on a résumé? "Bonafide Vol Fan."

Hey, if you don't agree with me, fine. Say you don't agree. I've got no problem with that. Or, if you want to challenge what ive said and lay out a case, no problem. But when you make personal attacks and question a person's fandom, you're just being a jerk.

I'm bonafide.

Gotta think this kid in the Big 10 is going to be ferocious for 10-11 games a year when he's the one of the best athletes on the field.

Boo hoo. You get on here, make spurious claims showing that you have an agenda against the coaches and TN and then cry about it when you get called out for it. Keep spouting your nonsense, I'm done with you.

I read and keep up with stuff more than post. Georgia is alright but missing Florida mainly my family and friends and especially Doral my 2nd hometown. lol I love Doral area and South Florida but it was just getting too expensive. I'm trying to get another transfer back to Florida but this time Tampa area. That way I can come down to the MIA on weekends to see family and friends but have cheaper cost of living to live! :eek:k:

Glad to hear that Marques has landed on his feet. He handled the entire situation with class and dignity. I'll be cheering for him to do well at Rutgers.

Where do you live in GA?

The kid bought into what the UT coaches were selling. He chose to be a part of it and committed. He did everything right and got screwed. Now he has to start all over. Just have to hope it does not come back to bite the staff at Tennessee. IMO kids should pay attention to things like this. What these coaches are saying is a lot of BS when it comes to recruiting.

And you know for a fact that CBJ didn't put any contingencies on Ford's offer. What if CBJ told him that if another player rated higher in a position of need was available, they could pull the offer? Ford could have accepted the offer knowing this.

This does not "happen all the time".

Recruits get dropped because....

(a) they get arrested

(b) they are told not to visit other schools and visit other schools.

(c) they are told they have to show certain progress that indicates they will qualify academically and fail to do so

(d) they stop having contact with the coaching staff.

I'm sure there are some other reasons as well.

However, recruits, by and large, do not get dropped because.....oops....the school has now decided they would rather give a scholarship to another player. That is abnormal. Not saying it has never happened in the history of college football or it's the worst thing ever to happen in the history of human existence or anything of that sort. However, it's not normal and it is wrong.

It happens more more than you think apparently. Quite common actually among the better schools. You just don't hear about it the media and not many teams have a VolNation type site.

I would have to agree. Tough to expect kids to shut down their recruitment in June if they start to see you dropping commitments 2 weeks before NSD just because you ran out of spots and or can't count.
