Once the UT coaches showed they were still going to push for Richmond till the end, IMO these other OT's were not going to seriously consider flipping from their current commitment.
How exactly would they know how hard the coaches are pushing for Richmond? And how would they know that they're pushing harder for him than themselves? Could they not be pushing hard for both of them? That just doesn't make any sense to me. Did you just pull that out of thin air and decide to go with it? Lord knows you've said it enough times. I guess it's true that you tell yourself something enough times that you can convince yourself that it's true bc there is no evidence that this is what happened.

Just me using a bit of what I like to call common sense. If DR was always their #1(it's been stated many times), and they are still trying to get him after he committed to Ole Miss, it would be tough for me (if I were a recruit) to buy into them telling me how bad they want me and I am their guy when I know at any point DR decided to flip to UT, I may no longer have a spot at Tennessee. I'd note that while Sweet has not really spoke of UT at all since Richmond picked Ole Miss, he does seem interested in other schools than UNC. Maybe he believes they are pushing for him as a priority and not just a back up plan to their top guy? With the staff still pushing for Richmond, IMO it will have other OTs UT is trying to get to listen looking elsewhere. If you're paying attention to the OT recruiting, it looks to me like that is what is happening now.
I said it the day Richmond picked Ole Miss. IF UT's coaches wanted an Allen, Sweet, or an OT committed elsewhere to actually consider flipping to UT, it would take them telling that recruit that Drew Richmond was now off the board and no longer being recruited. Had they done that, IMO we would likely be sitting better today for other OTs.

See that just doesn't make sense to me Leb. Again, I don't know how he would know that they were pushing harder for Richmond than they are for him. How exactly would he know who the coaches were pushing for the hardest? And do you not think UF (one of the schools I assume you're talking about) is doing the exact same thing as UT? Meaning recruiting Sweet and also pushing for higher rated guys like a Richmond or whoever they may have at the top of their respective board. I just don't know how he would know that they're pushing harder for Richmond than they are for him (Sweet or any other OT they're going after) if that is even the case at this point.
I'm just a fan and in following recruiting I have a very good idea that Richmond was the #1 OT CBJ wanted in 2015. Would it be reasonable to think a recruit with much more skin in the game than me would know this as well? Reasonable to think recruits read the same message boards and recruiting services I do? IMO the strongest message CBJ could have sent to an OT recruit he wanted after DR picked Ole Miss would have been to tell that recruit he is who I want and I would not be pushing for DR any longer. Stands to reason if DR was #1 and you're still recruiting him and trying to sign him, he is still you're #1. Tough to sell me on being "you're guy" when I know DR is actually who you want more.

Maybe they did do just that, we have no way of knowing what they told Sweet about DR. Since we're both playing the guessing game... What if the coaches have told him that he's (Sweet) now the top OT on their board and that he has a guaranteed spot no matter what? Bc they very well could have told him just that for all we know.
