You honestly think this is what TG is?

Judging by his tape yes. The highlights don't lie. He is a project quarterback at best. He's an athlete that just happens to play QB. His coaches wants him with the ball in his hands as much as possible. If you think he is a true QB, you are lying to yourself.
I personally don't think we need him to commit, but the coaches make those decisions.

We have plenty players like Gibson. Hurd, Malone, Pearson, Williams, The Berry's. We have playmakers all over the field. No need in getting all skilled position guys if we are getting absolutely manhandled in the trenches. We need lineman. You win in the SEC with dominant line play.

So you think TG can come in a contribute at QB from day 1? Give me some of whatever it is that you are smoking.

Realistically, how many true freshmen QBs come in and contribute from Day 1?

The potential absence of that ability isn't unique to Torrance Gibson. There is just as good a chance that Dormady and Jennings won't be contributors as freshmen.

If you don't think he's a take, don't try to persuade others by saying it over and over again. You're in the thread for a reason. Some people would turn down Johnny Footballs and Nick Marshalls. I remember when posters were downing Josh Malone (overrated, already had WRs, etc.), but then when he committed, things changed. Don't act like CBJ would turn away Gibson like Kiffin did to T. Boyd.

Even on a low side, TG could become sort sort of playmaker Randall Cobb or Trey Burton. These types of players are needed in the SEC.

How is it that TG and Jefferson cannot commit to the same team? I see either/or from posters and wonder how they are mutually exclusive. Not saying they will, but unless something has happened to Butch's brain like Dools Disease, he probably knows how he can take anybody he wants within the NCAA rules.

In February, we signed
Joseph Henderson DE
Derek Barnett DL
Dewayne Hendrix DL
Dimarya Nixon DL
Owen Williams DL
Charles Moseley DL
Make Sawyers DL
Jashon Robertson DL/ OL
Coleman Thomas OL
Dontavius Blair OT

Yes, we should try to take any outstanding linemen we can get. But it isn't like we don't have any. If initial evaluations are an indication, we have a group or pretty good ball players on the defensive side of the ball for the next 3-4 seasons. We need to continue to recruit, but we have some depth in place already, at least on the defensive side. We don't need to sign an entire roster at those positions.

Before you say it, I think we are in a similar situation at receiver and DB. We have players to play. We didn't have that for the last three years.

I don't understand why you're so against taking him. The kid is a playmaker with an incredibly high ceiling. Why not? We need depth at EVERY position.

There is no need for TG to contribute from day one. Josh Dobbs will be our QB Gibson's freshman year. TG can get coached and learn for a year that will help him tremendously, like all true freshman QB's in the SEC.

You and LV would make good roommates. You all could just sit around all day rocking back and forth discussing your TG hate.

in ways, yes.

he also may be able to contribute at WR from day 1.

So take TG over a more polished WR? Cause he will not play or contribute at QB from day 1.

We are not in a position to waste scholarships right now. If we were only plugging holes here and there, yes he would be a take. CBJ is trying to rebuild our team and depth at every position.

So the UT Coach Phil Fulmer recruited you for vandy? That sounds about right :)

And yes, I do know that COF briefly coached at vandy... My version is much better though
Bubble burst :hi:

I think CPF was at Vandy for only one year, 1979, he was at Tennessee in 1980 until his "retirement".

the fact that you think Gibson is a waste of a scholarship tells me (and everyone else) all they need to know.
