Nobody is saying that. What we are saying is he has tremendous upside with insane athletic skill and good passing. I hate to tell you but recruiting is ALL assumptions. Nobody knows who is going to be good and who is going to flop. JJ, QD and TG could all be busts. PW could be a bust. Who knows?

Also its no different in people assuming QD or JJ will be the next great thing. Its all a crap shoot.

EXACTLY! Yet people here are ready to hand the reins over to him(QD). Who knows if he can ever be 100% againc or if he can ball in the sec. Every qb is av wait and see what happens approach. Like With Riley a Peterman and Dobbs. Hell people thought With the PlayStation season numbers Worley had that he was going to be the next PM.With the 3 of our qbs being only mediocre and using 3 last year, what can y'all not see that we need help at qb. We've got weapons for who ever it is. And I think if we have to take 3 to find one of 6-7 that can do that, That CBJ is willing to just to find one that will pan out. Gah, y'all drop it. No one here knows what TG is going to do. But everyone should know that cbj will not pass on him if he wants to come here

When I said, "I love how everyone assumes Gibson will be the next great thing" I was taking a harmless jab at the guy who was saying that he loves how everyone assumes Dormady will be the next great thing. Nothing more. I do think that Gibson has the ability to be a great QB in this offense, but there's obviously something about him the coaches don't like.

Eh just venting a little. Its just crazy to believe that we have fans that have said things like we should pass on Gibson and he is not a take. Its just frustrating. I want the best players in the country, regardless of position, to come to Tennessee. Gibson is one of the best players in the country.

I can agree with that. However this has been said many times, you don't pass on a player like Gibson. Nobody on this message board knows more about our needs than CBJ. So if he decides that TG is a 3rd QB then he is. If CBJ decides he better at another position then fine. The bottom line is just get him on the team.

Is bama putting on the full court press for him, NO...sometimes the fit means more than the stars. Looks like for now you gotta trust the coaches who are recruiting with the best in the nation and doing so to find the best kids characterwise and athletically to be successful at UT

You don't really think that, though. Not only would you (surely) not want a #1 player with serious character issues, but you wouldn't (I hope) support UT taking a 25 person class that consists solely of the top 10 QB's and the top 15 RB's on the 247 board. That would be among the best classes ever when it comes to ratings, but it would be absolute garbage for the Vols football team.

I think that we would/should probably take Gibson if he came in tomorrow and wanted to make it official. But it isn't insane to say "we are closing in on a full class, and if we have to choose between a player like Phillips, DJ Jones, or DeBerry on the one hand, and Gibson on the other, an impact player at a position of need trumps a third QB in this cycle".

People seriously need to stop acting like either side of this debate consists solely of lunatics. The Gibson debate is a tough one, with good reasons in favor of each position. And, those of you who think that he is a 100% no questions asked take might be finding out otherwise if the report today is corroborated.
