I get that qd is your dude how does this sound even remotely correct. the kid has played qb at camps there are pictures that prove this. He cant be a vol simply because he didnt catch.gruden in time? Doubtful

Look. Identifying people as Gibsonites, Gibson-haters, etc. is not helping anything. If Gibson is sliding off the recruiting radar for so many big-time programs because of grades/other issues, it is sad to see his talent go to waste.

I never bought into the TG/Settle/DeBerry are all going to play together. Yes, they are part of a "chat group" and some of the kids I think we get were part of that group. They were never all headed to the same school no matter how many twitter folks want to claim it.

There is WAY too much positive recruiting going on at UT and by recruits for UT that easily negates any small amount of negative recruiting by one butthurt prospect, who didn't take advantage of the opportunity he had.

The recruiting dead period is now thru July 14th. So yes it is true that Butch Jones has backed off and stopped recruiting TG.
So the tongue and cheek comment from TG twitter account is true. Butch Jones has indeed stopped crootin the kid...b/c the NCAA says so.

I look at the class and the spots left and probably would not add another WR. Could Butch decide to take the highly regarded instate kid? Yeah, he could. With me having some doubts about Jones and Martin, I could see a spot or 2 for "best available" and what position they play would not matter so much. Maybe Van is 1 of those guys.

Most of the top programs that at one time were hot and heavy for him have backed off. I doubt he's going to bring the group text gang to UCF

Gibson is an great athlete but I never understood why he wanted to wait so long. He's already missed his opportunity at Ohio St., Auburn, and now us. I understand you only get recruited once but as a quarterback, you can't drag things out all the way to national signing day cause most schools will already have their "guy". I was all in favor of getting Gibson but now, I believe this guy ain't mature enough to be a Vol anyway. He plays too many games and seems full of himself most of the time. I'm more than happy with Dormady and Jennings.

The only thing I can find regarding the current dates for this year (from the NCAA)

(i) College coach can use two evaluations per athlete during this period. One for athletics and the other has to be for academic evaluation. If the college coach does both evaluations on the same day, than the coach is granted another athletics evaluation of the athlete.

(ii) 168 evaluation days during this time excluding Memorial Day and Sundays.

04-15-14 thru 05-31-14 Quiet Period **(when not conducting the evaluations above)

06-01-14 thru 07-31-14 Quiet Period
