I wanted him at whatever position to get him here. I think he would've been eventually converted to WR and I think he would have been a really good one BUT I can't fault Butch at this point. We're loaded at WR absolutely loaded and looking good with high rated prospects there. If the kid wanted to be part of the class at QB he probably should've been at the QB camp.He would have been one hell of a WR at TN

Very possible. Obviously him going to twitter to claim it all never happened was a kid covering his tracks a bit.
The crazy part is UT fans wanted to believe it so bad even though the smoke and fire was EVERYWHERE.
LV, I have to admit. I didn't really agree with a lot of your opinions since I started reading VN, but you are really growing on me. Sometimes we might have to agree to disagree but you do bring very detailed and analytical thoughts to the board. At any rate, Go Vols! And I think the one thing we can ALL agree on is that Butch Jones has the Vols heading in the right direction.
I dont buy that at all.
I don't buy that he had to be at camp and meet gruden to basically have a committable offer
What part don't you buy? Let's go through the history.
Torrance Gibson had UT as his leader. He then went wishy washy and named AU leader. He didn't show up at the Gruden camp to actually learn and compete. Those are facts not opinions. The kid has been all over the place during his recruitment, is a project at QB even though he is one loaded with potential, and his commitment date is out there so far with a class that is so limited numbers wise. Heck I hope we still land him but I can understand if the staff decided to go in a different direction.
While a lot of folks are looking wherever then can to find any proof that Gibson is thinking about becoming a Vol or is even being considered by the Vols staff. There are tweets from Gibson, but we have heard nothing from the Vols coaching staff. All that we have heard that can even be tied to the Vols coaching staff was a deafening silence from the UT recruiting analysts/board hosts - Ryan Callahan and Brent Hubbs, until yesterday and what they did say, speaks loudly about what the Vols staff's stance is. It takes two to tango.

So to recap...
Tennessee is still recruiting Gibson.
Tennessee is still projected as the #1 program for his commitment.
The rumors were blown out of proportion (if even true at all).
Gibson has changed his commitment date.
The Vols coaching staff can't comment on a recruit. I would expect an insider to know that sort of common information. Callahan was backing off his comments from yesterday too.
You did not read my comment and decipher my comment. Everyone knows that the coaches can not comment publicly about a recruit. However, some information is passed on quietly or inferred in some cases to the recruiting analysts, particularly between coaches and heads of the fans boards at the home school, i.e Hubbs/Callahan and UT, Chip Brown at Texas. Listen to those guys and what they say and what they do not say speak volumes of what is taking place. As I said, we are hearing one side of the dance team , wanting to dance and it takes two to tango.
