Not sure you want to skimp on the punter OR the long snapper..
Bad players at those positions could lead to disaster.
I think people are too stuck on the number of stars. A 3 or 4 star player, at a position of need, that can come in and play right away is way more important than a 5 star player that has to ride the bench for awhile before he can ever even see the field at his position. Not sure you want to skimp on the punter OR the long snapper..

Gibson is a 5* athlete but he probably a 3* passer right now and he would have to be taught more than a lot of the 4* QBs and even at WR because he has played the position. 5* athletes a lot of times are not well trained at the position they will be playing (which is why they are rated an Athlete) and it takes them a lot longer to catch up. It takes even longer to play at the level of a 5* player that was well trained at his position in HS.

Butch probably knows that TG is headed to JUCO anyway because of grades, so he and TG keeps us in positive headlines in the mean time. Since TG is such a "look at me" hound Butch can play him throughout the recruiting process and hopefully through his 2 years at JUCO.

There is no proof he has grade issue. No one has said it will be a factor. That was a rumor someone started.
It has been said he is already a 4 star qb and he has Heisman and NFL potential there. He will need work just as much as Jennings or Dormady will. He has the most potential no doubt. He is already as good or better than Terrel Pryor at this point. The word from the Opening is he is very coachable and improved a lot in just a couple of days. The only thing he lacks is consistency. He can make all the throws already. He just needs to refine his game like the qbs we have committed need to.
His known abilities is that he is athletic. Not that he is a great passer. Thats why all you hear is how with a year or 2 of QB coaching he could be good and even then its still a gamble. His highlights show him as Nick Marshall style QB. One that can run great but is average at best as a passer. Which is good if he is running most of the time and passing occasionally. That's not how the QBs will be used. If it is then you're not going to be taking advantage of all the talent at WR and that will start hurting WR recruiting.I'd say there are a lot more people stuck on his known ability than there are people stuck on any star rating - which, in part, is a reflection of his past performance and future potential.

If he stays at QB for 2 years and doesn't work out, then he is only going to see the field for a couple of years at WR if he can adjust. If the WRs spots are filled with true WRs you are only going to get him as a backup and he would have to exploded to get the use out of him you see with typical 5* players.
I'm not saying you don't take him if you have a spot but there's a lot more to it than just taking him because he is a 5* that is athletic. If he ends up a back up WR and you can't or don't get the 5* use out of him then you would be better off with a 4* guy you need that will start somewhere.

No doubt. I don't think we get Sweat and he stays instate. The difference though is IMO the staff would take a commitment from Sweat today.
The Stooges are at it again I see. They just cannot survive without their daily Gibson hatinglol:.
If Gibson goes somewhere else and becomes a stud player that lives up to his ranking, the ones who didn't want him are going to feel sick. At least they should anyway.
