I would not call him toxic. I would say it's more negatives than positives. If I were a coach and had other quality options, passing on a kid with more negatives than positives would be easy. The *'s would not really matter.

He is toxic. If any of the rumours are true, which most are based in, he won't play for years if he does.

There is no basis for any of the negative comments made about this kid. He is a phenomenal talent and wants to play QB. Let his recruitment play out. Maybe he signs with Tennessee and maybe he doesn't. Regardless, he does not deserve to be drug through the mud. You see what you started Leb? :)

Me? Me?

:p

All I did was explain why I did not like him at QB many months ago. Once the coaches took Dormady, to me at least it was pretty clear that the TG at QB for UT was just not happening. The *'s have a lot of folks sold no matter what else there is to consider. The fact is it's not just about the *'s. A lot of other things go into picking quality kids to represent your program.

He is not signing with UT, that seems pretty much a given now. And with AU, tOSU and Miami backing off who knows where he ends up.

And why did you laugh? Pretty sure I will believe Hubbs and if there weren't issues Urban, Au and Miami, 3 dirty as hell schools wouldn't be backing off.

Looks like it's UCF or Appy St.

Maybe Georgia Southern would be a good option. Were they the school last year who beat UF w/out ever throwing a pass? :dunno:

Agreed..Way too much smoke and too many schools backing off for there not to be something going on. Can't see Butch taking that kind of chance.

Toxic is a harsh word. I find it comical how so many posters are against this guy from listening to hear-say, and nothing more. You can bet the majority of the same posters were saying the same thing in regard to Cam Newton 's recruitment (You know... The guy we skipped on to get Matt Simms??) We all know how that turned out. The problem with alot of Tennessee fans is that we are continuously looking for the next Peyton Manning wrapped up in a bow on the front doorstep. It is really quite comical actually.

So the question becomes IF he has set an announcement date of Oct 20th, who on his list would take him today? Seems he would not set a date unless he was 100% sure who would take his commitment.

I suppose he could always postpone the announcement if needed.

I honestly have no idea if I ever commented on the Cam Newton stuff or not. Of course with him having the theft issues and the chucking said stolen property out his window to avoid getting caught, had me just fine with passing on him. There may have been other issues with him as well, just remember the stolen goods. With his dad looking for "cash money", that would have been another reason to pass IMO. I for one am glad UT was not really roped into that mess.

We'll see how it plays out. No doubt the kid has great potential but these kinds of situations seem to always end badly for us IE Da'rick Rogers, Bryce Brown, etc. I agree with the poster that said this recruitment has a Ambles type vibe to it at this point.

I do think honestly Gibson feels the most comfortable at UT but he will not be there as a QB, may not be there at all. The risk/reward coupled with the lack of space make it seem unlikely that he lands here though IMHO.

With the Kiffin fiasco and Newton, who knows. We might just have ended up on sanctions in that situation.

I agree that TG likes UT. IMO he would be a Vol IF the staff were willing to take him. It's just not going to happen. Sooner he finds another "leader" the better for him IMO.

Don't believe that is true. There won't be another Peyton. We just need stability and good play out of the QB position. And if it was just posters saying stuff about Gibson that is one thing, but when a respected and conservative Mod like Hubbs says it then it isnt just talk. And schools aren't backing off him because of being a freak type athlete. Who knows what is up with his situation but it can't be good.

They commit silently, and he tells them to make it public on certain days.

There have been way too many strategically timed commitments for that not to be the case, IMO.

When a guy cant even keep a "leader" for more than a weak, I doubt Butch has already told him when to commit. Thats all im sayin. I know some are planned but I would venture to say, 99% of them would at least keep the team they are "silently" committed to in the lead.

IDK you don't stop recruiting until everything is over. I think we're pushing for some guys that we have a pretty good feeling will be in JUCO going forward but still want to make a good impression there. I think you keep recruiting Gibson in case someone else doesn't work out.

I'd expect CBJ will still "recruit" him. I'd guess TG already knows CBJ is not taking him as part of the 2015 class. That is why IMO the sooner he can find/name a leader who would actually take his commitment, the better it is for him.

I don't know about that man, the Cam Newton situation has worked out extremely well for Auburn. Hell, Nick Marshall got arrested for pot just last week, and I'm betting he will not miss a down of football this fall and most likely play very well. Football isn't played by choir boys, and Peyton Mannings don't grow on trees. Yet I do understand where you coming from about maintaining program image and integrity, which is just about the only place AU has taken a hit in the public's eye. However, the AU fans give less than a crap about that as long as they are winning on the field.

I may be alone in that mindset, but I hope Tennessee never sells it's soul to win ballgames. Yes, I am aware all big time programs bend the rules here and there. AU has taken it to another level with the church renovation claims and other shady dealings. You can win and still at least try to show a little integrity.

TG's recruitment is like a bad movie. I didn't want him as a QB or WR, but I would've been glad if CBJ could've gotten him as an athlete. I hope all of the accusations are not true. I hate to see young men waste their talent.
