'15 GA CB Darius Slayton (UGA commit)

"My host was Evan Berry and I pretty much only hung out with Evan and Elliot," said Slayton, who saw the Orange & White throttle Kentucky 50-16 in front of 102,455 on Saturday. "They have me some insight on how Tennessee will help you and take care of you when you need it."

"This was my first visit, but Tennessee is not too late. I like them, I had fun on my visit, and I have interest in them," said Slayton, who plans to make a declaration very soon.

The VQ guys have said he's the kind of athlete you sign and figure out a position for after he arrives. He's a national top 10 WR on some sites. They have certainly made it sound like he's a definite take. I'd be shocked if they have him below Ugo on their board.

The Berry twins, Creamer, and others were the same way. Perry and Bruce are similar in this class in terms of the "athlete without a position" label. You take Amadi over Slayton all day. He's a special teams boost, possibly an immediate starter opposite Sutton at CB (over EMos) and he also helps with Kyle Phillips and Richmond.

There's no way to prove Amadi is higher, but the coaching staff told him he's their "missing piece". I don't think they'd say that to Slayton.

No earthly way Amadi starts next year.

I thought you said Slayton wasn't a take unless they miss out on Ugo? That is what I found hard to believe, it seems to contradict what the mods have been saying on other sites.

Highly unlikely. Moseley has played well, has a year of experience, and is bigger and faster than Amadi. I doubt Amadi ever sees time on the outside. He is a slot/nickel corner IMO.

I have no idea how the numbers shake out BUT I do have to say it is absolutely fun as hell figuring out how all these kids fit in instead of worrying about whether we are going to be able to fill spaces like recruitment was before Butch.

Don't worry Ugo, we'll find you a spot. Numbers always work themselves out.

Only because of numbers. If we take Ugo, unless they kick Miller or maybe Bruce to the curb, we won't have room for another athlete. I know they love Perry and Miller. In no way am I saying Slayton isn't a take because he's not a really good athlete, but Ugo is our choice for CB. If he sticks with Ole Miss or chooses LSU, we would take Slayton all day. I think the coaches like Miller more than Slayton, but I dont.

Slayton will play WR, Ugo is a nickel. We want both. JMO

Wrong. Ugo is 5'9 and will play CB. Gaulden and/or Berry is our nickel. They fit it perfectly. Ugo will also return punts (if he flips).

Slayton will be a DB if he picks UT. He spent his OV with the Berry twins and they all went to watch film with Martinez/Jancek.

You don't know who we have room for and don't have room for. The only people that know that are the coaches. Let them figure it out. Let's just support the team we have now.

Love when people say someone is wrong when they have no idea if Ugo will be a CB or Nickel. You have no idea what will happen by next July. Also, Slayton is quoted as saying Butch talked to him about playing offense and defense this weekend

VolDango, I've noticed your posts are very definitive in nature. Is this a claim to insider information or a strong faith in your own opinions?

EMos started his first game against UK and played lights out, but before the UK game I'm not sure who you were watching. He got burned badly several times. If Ugo flips to UT, he's basically what Eric Gordon wanted to be. Gordon couldn't cut it outside and went to nickel and did fairly well. Ugo is a legit 4.4 kid with above average hips. He will play CB. Mark it down.

Breaker told me I was dead wrong last year when I said McDowell would be a will. My point is, no one knows anything definitely til they're in campus for a while

I said Cortez was a LB. When a kid visits and goes into meetings with a specific position coach, that's a pretty good heads up I think.

Thus why I say Slayton is a DB if he comes to UT. I can post articles of you really need me to.

"The coaches expressed their need and how I can help fill their need," Slayton said. "Wide receiver was the position that was the talk this weekend, but coach Butch (Jones) expressed that either position was fine."

Did I say WR was never discussed? I don't remember saying that. Per Fortenberry he was with the Berry twins all weekend and went into the DB film study with them.

Plus you cited Scout.com and no one should do that.

He will be a CB if he signs with UT, which may or may not even happen. Come find me if that ends up not being true in a year or two. Don't think because you found a Scout article that mentions WR (or coach speak about positions of need) that you "got me". Bro.

You have no idea is my entire point. And scout does a great job of coverage and interviews. That is a DIRECT QUOTE from Slayton. You're only trying to thump your chest about being right. I'm done man. You win

I'll try to be more eloquent and less divisive.

In the end, we probably won't care about Slayton. IMO... based on all signs pointing to UGA early and often... he will be a Dawg. But maybe Ugo sticks with the Rebel Bears and Abernathy helps reel Slayton in for us.
