'15 GA CB Darius Slayton (UGA commit)

I think his awareness is much better than EMos (though he looked great in the UK game with knowing where the ball is in the air). I also think Amadi, as you said, is quicker. Not faster in a straight line, but quicker in turning and running. That is a big deal playing CB. Jalen Hurd is the fastest guy on our team (GPS timed) but can you imagine him trying to play CB? It would be ugly. CB is all about awareness, instincts and turn and go speed. I think EMos is good but Amadi would be a little better. JMO

If this is the case Deion Payne looked better coming out of HS than Ugo.

TN is no longer a factor with Newsome so we can forget about him. I still think Slayton could play anywhere from WR to CB to even Free Safety. Considering they have a need at all those spots still I'm not sure if Jefferson has anything to do with him.

I still have a hard time believing Jefferson is looking at other options. I mean he hasn't been to campus or anything since he's committed.

What happens with Newsome? It seemed like we were high on his list

I thought Jefferson visited for a game recently? Didn't the de1coloney guy say he went with him? I could very well be mistaken but I thought I remembered reading that.

"It's really a great place," said Slayton, who is being recruited by Tennessee as a wide receiver. "You can tell there's been a lot of work put into the school and they have a great alumni base and they've really given back and helped build up nice football facilities. The overall campus was nice too and it was a good trip."

"The coaches were all really knowledgeable and you could tell they knew what they were talking about," Slayton said. "The team was cool, too. I was with Evan Berry as my host and obviously Elliot was around a lot too and they're both cool guys and we had fun. I went into the locker room and everyone was really excited and it seems like a cool atmosphere to be a part of on game day. "

"I don't know how much having Micah there will factor into my decision but it's a part of the reason we went on the visit," Slayton said. "Their family is close with mind and his mom and dad really wanted me to go and see what Tennessee had to offer before I made my decision. So out of respect to them and their family and everything plus I wanted to go anyway so I decided, why not?"

"I had heard how nice the facilities where and how great the resources for student-athletes are," Slayton said. "But you don't really understand until you get up there and see it. I say I was most surprised by that."

Wrong.

Slayton will be a DB if he picks UT. He spent his OV with the Berry twins and they all went to watch film with Martinez/Jancek.

We shall see. It's moot if he picks UGA. I think, regardless what he's being recruited as, he's a better CB prospect. Let's look back on this in a year.

Do you mean D'Andre Payne? I don't think Payne is on Amadi's level. But Payne will play for us eventually.

Payne was really good man out of high school. Ugo is fast, elite fast, but Payne is built to be a great nickel CB. If we land Justin Martin, and Willams doesn't get kicked off the team, then I think Martin and Payne will compete for the nickel next year. This allows E Mos. and Williams to continue to rotate like they are this year, Cam locks down the other side with Martin backing him up, and Martin and Payne lock down nickel. Martin would be an upgrade in many ways compared to Coleman, though Coleman has played well as of late. You also can't leave out Gaulden either. He's going to play either nickel or SS, and it'll be hard to keep him off the field in the coming years regardless of what position he plays.

Yeah I jacked that up. :) but he's better at CB coming out of HS. IMO I don't really see this all world CB you're pumping in UGO.

All this is a lot easier to sort out in hindsight. We can say anything we want right now. First, Ugo has to switch to UT to see if any of what I've said will happen. But even if he sticks with Ole Miss, with how good their defense has become, I think you'll see it.

Worst case scenario is he's an immediate punt return threat and solid DB (corner or nickel). He reminds me, as I've said, of an upgraded version of Eric Gordon. Gordon was originally a CB but moved to nickel and excelled. I think Amadi can hold his own at CB though.

Wasn't that article written by Woody? I would take it with a grain of salt. Slayton watched film with the Berry twins, Martinez and Jancek. I doubt they were watching receiver film. That's all I said. There's no way to prove right or wrong now. If he's a WR then I'll gladly admit I'm wrong. No big deal. But by saying I'm wrong now, when it hasn't happened yet, you're doing the same thing lol.

It's just my opinion. Never claimed I work in the AD or anything. UGA has him as a DB on their board and he will most likely pick UGA anyway. Moot point.

And to be fair to VolDango, Woody Wommack is not a credible source when it comes to UT recruiting.

He's the guy that absolutely refused to acknowledge that Josh Malone was considering UT last year. If you are on Volquest you know what I'm talking about. Wommack is a know Vol hater.

Or... Ponder this... Willie Martinez is recruiting Micah Abernathy, and once Micah committed (or really started considering UT) Darius realized he wanted to play with his best friend in college. Rather than shipping Azzani down there to recruit Slayton (as a WR) might as well let Willie who's proven to be a good recruiter do his thing.

Now why on earth would he watch film with the Berry's? I've watched two video interviews where Micah calls them out by name as people he knew at UT. So is it a stretch to say that Darius, Micah's very close friend, too knows the Berry's who are also from a similar area in GA?

So instead of looking at it as Darius was watching DB film with a DB/LB and the DB coach, couldn't it just as easily be Darius was watching film with two UT players he knew previously with the coach recruiting him? Also think about it, DB film is pretty much the same as WR film you need to know both positions to play one.

So you said you can deduce all of this stuff from articles and VQ, but when one comes out plain as day saying he's being recruited as a WR, you ignore it.

Thank you.

I know that was from June/UGA site. I have VQ so it posts that way. UGA may throw WR pitch to him to keep him leaning. I'm just done talking about Slayton lol. People getting so fired up about a kid that probably won't matter to us. I'm unwavering that I think he's a DB though. Jmo no crystal ball.

I wouldn't be so sure. Slayton to UT is gaining a lot of momentum. He has had several 247 crystal ball prediction to UT recently.

Fortenberry says it is a UT SC battle.

Womack says he thinks its GA, which makes me believe UT even more.

Womack=idiot.

Only due to things like this. Prior to the last 24 hours no one argued with me simply over an opinion. But Im sure no one wants to read this pointless nonsense and the MODs don't need to clean up the thread.

I'll discuss anything Slayton related if you guys want to.

Okay, it's our fault. We take full blame. You can go back to posting once a day now.
