'15 GA CB Micah Abernathy (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Well there seems to be a "thumbs up" button for this comment, but not the "thumb up your @$$" button it deserves...

What a cr@p comment. Negavol.

Whoaaa!...easy there cowboy. :stop: KB is disgruntled, but far from a Negavol! Let's keep our digits out of orifices until we have a cooling down session. :yuck:

I just hope the coaches know those guys are willing to just quit and walk away. If not, it could get messy.

CBJ to current player: "Maybe it's in your best interest to play somewhere you have a better chance of seeing the field".

Player: "Naw coach, I'm content being a Vol and graduating from Tennessee even if it means I never am more than a practice player".

CBJ: "But I need the spot".

Player: "Sorry, I'm happy here".

CBJ: "Uhhh".

What about Butch has made you feel he would be an Azz to a kid like that? You are quick to assume the worst.

You don't think a kid would rather play than work as hard as he demands to sit the bench and not have a role? When your young and are eligible to play you will transfer if a coach sits down an has a heart to heart and says you have been passed by several guys and you can stay if you want but if you want to play I can help you find another school. This happens everywhere.

If butch is taking current players spots its because he has already hammered out those details with the student athlete. He is always a step ahead. He isnt just saying hey got a commit your done here.

It's also why he recommends kids be ready to graduate in 3-3.5 yrs because it opens up so many options. Leave early for pros and still have degree. Have degree and stay and only have to focus on Sr yr of football with a light schedule or work on masters. Also opens up ability for kids without a role to transfer D1 with immediate eligibility to open a spot.

"Literally laughing out loud" at the mention of playing for championships in a few years is a negavol comment. Not he's a negavol, the comment was. But I see how I wrote it incorrectly.

I don't know KB, and I don't keep up with everyone's posting history. I do, however, read comments and react. And yes, that was a "you've got your thumb up your @$$" comment.

From Keith Niebuhr...

Abernathy family is royalty in Atlanta

Cool fact: A stretch of I-20 in Atlanta is named after Ralph David Abernathy -- the grandfather of new Vols commit Micah Abernathy.

Who is Ralph David Abernath?

He was Martin Luther King's right-hand man, best friend and closest confidant.

When MLK died, he did so in Ralph David Abernathy's arms.

Here's a story I did back in my Rivals.com days about Micah's older brother/family. AWESOME PEOPLE!!!!

I hope you will take the time to learn about Micah's family.

Can't believe Ralph David is still around. Can you imagine having this conversation immediately following the TN/Cin game in 2011?

Prophetic Dude: Man, that win was awesome! Bray was killing it with Hunter and Rogers all game long! It's gonna be crazy in 4 years, when Bray and Rogers are undrafted, Butch Jones is coaching the Vols and Abernathy is taking snaps at UT.

You: Yep, seems legit.... tool. Dooley has got this thing turned around. Rogers, Bray and Hunter are all going to be first round picks, and how the he** do you expect Jones and RDA4 to ever show up at UT?

It really accentuates how ridiculous it is when we try to project teams 3-4 years down the road.

I remember when Isiah Pead broke that long TD run. The game thread was full of "We just got Pead on" references.

I worked in the Atlanta area in the early 1970's for a few months and had the pleasure of working with a couple of Rev. Ralph D. Abernathy's nephews. This is truly an outstanding family. I worked closely with one of the nephews, one of the finest people I met while down there.

You're good people Butchna. Gotta admit, still feelin damn salty about another Fla loss, especially when there was little to no reason for it to happen. Dude thinks I'm a Nega, whatever. Disgruntled is definitely the word. I'm certain Jones is the right guy Sunday through Friday, 165 hours a week. That 3 hours on Saturday has me concerned and that blows cause we all want and need him to be "the guy". The players and fans deserved better than they got on Saturday imo. Oh well, I'll be firmly entrenched in front of the big screen again tomorrow afternoon, all NegaVol and whatnot.

Tennessee went into Georgia and defeated the home-state Bulldogs for Scout 300 defensive back Micah Abernathy. What is UT getting? Find out here...

Prospect: Micah Abernathy
Hometown: Norcross, Ga.
High School: Greater Atlanta Christian
Class: 2015
Position: Cornerback
Size: 6-1/182
Ranking on Scout: | No. 25 CB | No. 16 in Ga. | No. 199 Overall
Recruiting: Abernathy kept Oregon in the running after eliminating Ohio State and Penn State, but for a while, this race was down to Georgia and Tennessee. It came down to two official visits, and in the end, the connection with Butch Jones put the Vols over the Dawgs.
Strong Points

Tackling
Scouting Report: Does so many things well. Smart young man who picks up things quickly and is very coachable. Grew up as a running back, so athleticism is there, and speed is as well. Very good high school safety, so he is used to playing off the ball more than on it. Good in run support, shows toughness, and flashes some pop, but needs to become a better pure tackler. In coverage, very good burst out of breaks, quick reaction on the ball, and has size you cannot teach. Could play corner, nickel, or safety at Tennessee. Versatile player who has a chance to see the field very early. Right now, better, and more comfortable off the ball, but he will improve a lot in coverage once he settles in at his position full-time on the next level.

Also it appears we have offered to take Micah's older brother Ralph, whom Butch coached while at Cincinnati. He was awarded a medical redshirt and will graduate before transferring to us with one year of immediate eligibility. BOOM Butches! Good morning VN, Wake UP!:rock::rock:

Is his brother an OT by chance?
