Jones wins or he won't be here. He has to determine if those kinds of "harsh" moves improve us as a football team. If he doesn't improve the team the "backfire" as you say won't be relevant anyways because he will be fired.
The way this is setting up if we do get Abernathy, Martin, and Walker is going to be amazing for us. I know most fans have very little patience, but we should have a top 3 defense for the 2016 season. The pieces for the offense are coming together as well if you really take a closer look at it. What is missing is a mobile QB. If Dobbs pans out, or JJ really develops early we are looking at something really special in 2016. A mobile QB would have made all the difference in the world this year with our young line if we had someone that could make something out of nothing when things break down. I just hope we as fans have the patience to see this through.
You're good people Butchna. Gotta admit, still feelin damn salty about another Fla loss, especially when there was little to no reason for it to happen. Dude thinks I'm a Nega, whatever. Disgruntled is definitely the word. I'm certain Jones is the right guy Sunday through Friday, 165 hours a week. That 3 hours on Saturday has me concerned and that blows cause we all want and need him to be "the guy". The players and fans deserved better than they got on Saturday imo. Oh well, I'll be firmly entrenched in front of the big screen again tomorrow afternoon, all NegaVol and whatnot.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR TENNESSEE?
First of all it means the Vols are getting a defensive back in the mode that Martinez likes in a guy with length and range as an athlete. And it builds depth in the secondary particularly at corner where there aren't a lot of bodies.
And despite the growing numbers, which will work out they always do, Tennessee hopes they're not done in the secondary as they actively pursue junior college cornerback Justin Martin, who played his senior season at Overton High School in Nashville. Martin is playing high end football and remains a priority for this class. The Vols have long been a leader there, but others like LSU continue to pursue the corner.
Tennessee is also continuing their pursuit of Nashville's Ugo Amadi who is friends with recent commitment Vincent Perry and Vol target Kyle Phillips. However, Amadi is committed to Ole Miss, and LSU is a real factor with him as the Vols face an uphill climb in Amadi's recruitment.
Getting Abernathy is also an important get because it's another Georgia prospect that the Vols beat out the Bulldogs for in an area of the peach state, Norcross, that is annually producing top flight prospects and lots of them.
"Very good athlete shows off excerpt quickness and projects as a corner at the next level who has good change of direction ability and footwork. Hard eval as he's not playing the position he's projected at for the most part but I love his ability on special teams and his instincts as a football player so I expect him to impact possibly as a return guy early and ease his way into becoming an SEC corner. We'll learn a lot when he's thrown into the fire at DB at Under Armour but this is a great steal from Georgia ."
Indeed. Are they related to the civil rights icon? His brother at Westminster and him at GAC would indicate he may be royalty.
Abernathy family is royalty in Atlanta
Cool fact: A stretch of I-20 in Atlanta is named after Ralph David Abernathy -- the grandfather of new Vols commit Micah Abernathy.
Who is Ralph David Abernath?
He was Martin Luther King's right-hand man, best friend and closest confidant.
When MLK died, he did so in Ralph David Abernathy's arms.
Here's a story I did back in my Rivals.com days about Micah's older brother/family. AWESOME PEOPLE!!!!
I hope you will take the time to learn about Micah's family.

Not to take this OT, but since they are mentioned with Martin and Amadi, has anyone noticed LSU's struggles in recruiting this year? And I've noticed Tyron Johnson is now picking up CB's to Oklahoma State. Very surprising.

Was looking at their class a week or so ago. They have 5-6 high end good talents on board, and then several of those guys are questionable.
Per 247's rankings, out of the top 10 prospects in LA, LSU has 3 committed. And Brossette is taking his visits and looking around.
Merritt is looking hard at A&M and Donte Jackson just named UGA his leader.
