The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Walker who claims more than two dozen scholarship offers said he decided to visit Tennessee for the third time in less than two months because he likes the great environment there and the way they run their program and the way they believe in themselves even after they didnt have too good of a season (last year).
I was hanging out (at Tennessee last weekend), and at first I didnt even know they were going to have a little scrimmage like that. But it was intense, said Walker, whos ranked the nations No. 126 overall prospect and No. 10 weakside defensive end in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class.
Then, I ended up wanting to come back, of course, to see their spring game, and that was live as well. The spring game, it was cool. It was great.
Walker said his trip to Tennessee last weekend allowed him to spend time with coach Butch Jones staff and some of the Vols current players, attend one of their defensive-line meetings and watch their third spring scrimmage.
This weekend, he got a chance to experience something resembling a game-day atmosphere at Tennessee for the first time.
I was surprised at how many people were there just to get autographs, Walker said, referring to the Vols annual fan day before their spring game. There was a line to the 50-yard line, and (Jones) was sitting in the end zone.
(I was impressed by) how many of them came to a spring game and were there tailgating before the game and stuff like that. It was crazy. That was my first time being there to see the fans, but I plan on coming back for a game well, a few games.
Walker said he spoke with all of Tennessees coaches during his visits each of the past two weekends, and they told him to keep coming back and keep learning. He said Jones insisted that, eventually, theyre going to have a winning season thats their plan so (I liked) just knowing that hes confident in where they are.
He said he also enjoyed his latest visit to Georgia on Thursday.
It was great. It was a good visit, he said. I like their new defensive coaching staff that came from Florida State.
Walker said he doesnt have any additional visits scheduled at this point, and hes not planning to decide on a college any time soon.
