On 247, Ryan told someone that Quarte is a quiet person in regards to his recruitment. He thinks we are still in the driver's seat, but he would try to catch up with him to see if he could find out the latest news.
The last comment I saw, either from Fortenberry or Hubbs was that they weren't sure how hard TN is pushing for a commit. This was just after his last UV. Strange, considering they had said up until the weekend of his visit that the staff really wanted him and liked him more than Atkinson.

They do like him more than Atkinson. My only guess is that the coaches are thinking about taking another position instead of OLB.

As we have seen in the past, when the staff cools on one recruit, they usually have something bigger lined up.
That or someone already on the roster started balling out in practice and the recruiting needs shifted. My guess is that the coaches quietly like what they're seeing from Dillon Bates & Elliot Berry.
Bates, Berry, Creamer, and Weatherd have impressed by all accounts so maybe it has become less pressing of a need. One thing I know for sure is that none of us will ever know.

Very true. I think it's also possible that they plan on going to a nickel package almost full-time this year, thus necessitating only 2 LBs and simplifying our recruiting into SLB-types (AJ, Bynum, Bryant, Creamer, Cherry) and WLB-types (JRM, Bates, Berry, maybe Weatherd). Viewed through that scheme, our depth doesn't look so bad.
