'15 GA OLB Quarte Sapp (UT Signee 2/4/15)

No, you know people. I am an average Joe. I am just in a business where I meet and talk to people.

That is why I don't care for posters who try to rip people who say they might have info. All of us don't live in a vacuum. We have relationships, and sometimes, you know people who have info. Just falls in your lap. I didn't go seek it out. The info is not always correct, but that is for others to decide.

Preach on brother.

Per Hubbs

It was a busy week for Butch Jones as he spent time with numerous prospects throughout the week. At the beginning of the week he was with each of the Atlanta-area commitments and spent time with Quarte Sapp as well.

We continue to believe Tennessee is the strong leader for Sapp. A visit to Michigan State is likely this weekend and while a Missouri visit is tentatively scheduled, we've also heard that Sapp may not take that visit and decide something after his visit to East Lansing, Mich.

But, as it's been throughout the whole process, Sapp has rarely done what is expected in terms of a timeline and firm dates and times have been hard to come by with him. So, we basically continue to play the wait and see game there.

Per Callahan

Sapp, one of Tennessee’s longtime top linebacker targets, visited Michigan State over the weekend and once again remained quiet Sunday after returning home from East Lansing, Mich. Some sources close to Michigan State indicated over the weekend that Sapp and his mother had been impressed by the Spartans, but others close to his recruitment still believe UT — which has been the favorite to land him for months — still is likely the team to beat. Sapp currently is scheduled to visit Missouri this weekend, but it's not out of the question that he could call off the trip to Columbia, Mo., and decide to announce his decision as early as this week.

Per Chad Simmons he will OV Mizzou this weekend and is going to announce on Feb 2nd. Chad says no clear cut leader at this time, could be translated that we have no room

UT leads for Sapp and they will make room for him. He has been at the top of our boards forest of this cycle.

Simmons needs to sit down, his info contradicts the general concencus so I'm not sure what he's talking about.

I just don't think we get him, not because we didn't want him or he didn't want to go here, just because there were bigger needs than LB

We had to dig deep into our depth this past season, not something we need to do often and we need guys like Sapp if we must do so. We had guys playing out of position to compensate for injuries so I think LB is still a need and priority. IMHO

We can make room until no more room can be made. At that point, depending on who wants in and how many spots we have available, is when we see the real ugliness of recruiting and the Numbers game.

Unfortunately, I've been told that Sapp had been silently committed for a while, but because he was likely going to be a numbers victim, (still) silently reopened his recruitment. Should know something by the end of this week, siap.

Sorry, but did we really have to go that deep at OLB?

We only played 4 OLBs in non-garbage time scenarios. JRM, Maggit, Bates, and Weatherd. All of those guys are coming back next year. We only lose 2 after 2015.

Assuming we keep all the OLBs we have on the team or currently committed (and no more safeties are moved up to OLB), then in 2016 we'll have the following at OLB:

JRM- Senior
Bates- RS Sophomore
McDowell- Jr.
Elliot Berry- Jr.
Austin Smith- So or RS freshman

Plus whoever we add in 2016. Additionally I think there's a slight chance that Darrell Taylor may end up playing a similar role to Maggit.

I think Sapp is a great player, I just don't see how we have more of a need for him than another OT or our 3rd RB.

Precisely. This is why Sapp is in a holding pattern: he is a great player, but depending on whom decides to commit in the next 9 days may not have a spot available.

You are correct.... Plenty of depth at LB, definitely have much bigger needs elsewhere. I would love to land Sapp though.

Won't Bates be a RS Freshman? I thought the recent news that Bates received his med RS might've had something to do with why Mr. Sapp hasn't yet pulled the trigger...

I still think the two redshirt LB's from this year and the three we already have in this class makes 5 freshman LB's. There's got to be something we need more than a sixth. I still believe we were still recruiting just incase we lost Taylor or Smith.

Just a first time recruiting forum post passing through. Would really like to land this guy! GBO!

Fox's football recruiting show on Monday nights at ten EST said last night that Quarter Sapp is one of four or five that are committing on their show next Monday night. They pronounced his name correctly but had it spelled incorrectly.
